Hi all,

My wife and I just replaced our 05 plate Honda Jazz with a 14 plate Panda 0.9 Multiair Turbo, Dualogic, lounge model.

Great car been running fine, had it for just over 2 weeks. The wife has just phoned me after a refuel on the way to work, she filled the tank but the gauge stayed at empty for around 30mins before it registered full and the range stayed at 50 miles then jumped to just under 400.

Anyone any experience of this? Just a glitch? I do have a few months dealer warranty.

Sounds like the float in the fuel tank for the fuel gauge sender was stuck down and then freed itself.
If it does the same next fill report it to dealer under warranty.
The part could be quite expensive so worth keeping on top of.

Ill keep an eye on it, ill also stick some fuel cleaner through it just in case, got a 3 month warranty when I purchased the car from Arnold Clark Fiat in Perth. Hopefully its just a one off.

You think it might be a case of the float resting for to long on the sender, kind of bottomed out? Stuck in to low a position?

I overfilled the first car I owned. 2 days later I assume the level dropped enough to dry out the float or similar. I wasn't worried as knew it was full and I was only doing 40 miles per week. If it goes again, just keep adding fuel fairly often until you can take it to be looked at.

As GAR074 said it shouldn't stick at any position but you could have a tight spot towards the bottom. I've seen it occasionally when a car has been stood for a while with little or no fuel in the tank. I think condensation gets in and rusts the mechanism a little. With any luck it'll work itself back to normal after a couple of fill ups.

I have just filled my 2012 panda to the brim. Was just under half full and I never let it run low on fuel. Gauge showed one bar over half full then jumped a bit.I've stopped and restarted, it's moved again but still only showing 3/4 full.

Haha whilst I was typing my post gauge has jumped to full (engine running) hoping it's temp stuck floato as mentioned in other posts!
