General Replacement Rear Shocks ?

General Replacement Rear Shocks ?

I have had contact with Bilstein and they told me that they don't have shocks for the Panda 312/319, so i doubt this link is accurate.

Mm weird. There are several other sellers that offer the Bilstein for the 312 but it's basicly the same shock they offer for the 169 model. Now the big question is if this realy is the case. Does a shock ment for the 169 model also fit the 312?
There are also still sellers out there that claim they offer an eibach/bilstein b12 sportkit.
It still remains weird that almost no one is offering shocks for the 312 after 5 years.

New rear shocks have arrived. :D

Thanks,Ringa.Fitted the shocks as per your recommendation, excellent service from shop4parts.
The Panda now rides better than it's ever done,we have complained to the main dealer since the car was new that it didn't ride like the demo Twinair we test drove,of course the ride was normal, well,it wasn't it is like a different car, to the extent that i think i'm going to replace the front shocks, because i can now actually feel how the car is behaving.
As an aside the garage who fitted them said they had never seen a bushing system like the original shocks & the replacements had what they described as a "normal"bushing system.
Once again thanks Ringa.
Regards,Graham.

So, any progress on this front. ??

I'm just about to order them(old & slow), 4parts have them in stock,so i'll order this week-end,can't be any worse than the originals, plus they've now done over 50k,so it won't do any harm to replace them.

This morning i changed the rear shocks. :D
And if you think your Panda does not ride like you wish, then change your rear chocks because they are at fault. ;)
Mine drives like a dream now with those new shock absorbers, quiet and nice demping characteristics.
Well worth the money if i may say so, very happy with them.

I just wish one of the better damper suppliers - Bilstein, Koni - would come up with replacement units. Fiat's settings have been notoriously weak on rebound - my previous 100HP was a good/bad example - and, though the 4x4's ride is much better than the previous model's I'd really like something adjustable.

So do i, but that would mean a 3K custom made coilovers set. :D

I'm not a great fan of coilovers - I know they sound like a good idea but they put through the damper bushes and mountings the forces they're designed for plus the loadings of the springs - which they're not designed for. I put some on the rear of a Fiat 500 years ago (and also mounted a BMW 700 flat twin engine - used to eat Mini Coopers for breakfast - a real hoot) and spent the next six months reinforcing the cross member and rear bulkhead to take the re-directed loads.
