Car Manufacturers are always trying to improve things without realising what a pain these improvements can be. I've had my 4x4 MJ 3 months now & I am forever having to cancel the indicator by switching it the other way - this being the one where you slightly flick the stalk & it comes on for about 6 secs. I'm guessing they did it because people forget to turn them off if they've got the radio on. Has anyone else been bothered by this & is there's a way of switching this feature off & just having the regular indicator?

Hi. Its designed for changing lanes on dual carriageways
Works fine. FULL selection of the stalk will override it.
So IF you knock it left. Just push the stalk to the left for 1 flash..then you can cancel it as normal..

If you still have issues..ir should be possible to disable it in sortware

Yes. Don't 'flick' the stalk as this will give 5 flashes (intended for lane changes)
Instead, click it down fully and it will stop as soon as you click it back again (giving minimum of one flash). Most 'new' cars work this way (although most only give three flashes for the lane change setting)

Im sure you can get it changed to do just 3 flashes instead of the 5, it will be a visit to the dealers though to get it changed i think.

I must say i like the five flashes, my wifes car is a Vauxhall with only three flashes, and the Panda is much better. But i will say when i first got the Panda i often went down the road indicating right the left then right again before i managed to stop them.

I know this is an old message, but I'm interested if there is any new feedback, particularly on the possibility of switching off the "Lane Changing" indicators function?

I understand what the function is for, and how it is activated, and I have even used it, but the problem is that when I'm switching between main beam and dipped headlights, it does occasionally trigger 'lane change'. It happens rather more frequently when my wife is driving.

We live out in the country so mainbeam and dip are always being used at night. The fine line between triggering or not triggering the lane change is, for us at least, too fine. Random indicating confuses oncoming and following taffic, and could suggest that the driver had been drinking!

The easy solution would be to switch off the facility - can it be done?
