Technical Tyres :)

Technical Tyres :)

Unfortunately I have how a mismatched tyre, hit a nail on the edge of the tread, cant be helped.

Garage only had one tyre in the right size, a Haida HD921. Had to finish the trip with the car under its own steam so paid and did it, £32.90 all in. I don't know if it's just me but that's too cheap for my liking! It will be off soon enough and relegated to the shed for emergencies/tyre swing for my nieces ? both as it's very much a 'me love you long time special' and my irritation of having mismatched tyres will frustrate me ?

If you do a google search of "Haida Tyre Review", you'll discover it's not just you.

Basically cheap Chinese rubbish with appaling wet weather & noise performance, and pretty awful on most other counts as well.

This is why I'm so against not carrying a spare wheel. If I get an unfixable puncture, at least I have enough time to sort it out the way I want to sort it out.

Agreed, I have a spare wheel on order, why couldn't this happen next week eh ?

I was somewhat trying to avoid looking at the reviews but wow I now regret doing so, lucky my indies got me a continental coming in on wends.

Someone was recently posting about ordering a set of really knobby off-road tyres. My guess is the standard CrossContact or Vectors would be fine for any extra-urban mud, but if you're seriously considering off-roading or greenlaning some knobbies would make a world of difference off road (though probably be awful on-road).
My CrossContacts have proved to be surprisingly good on mud but do eventually run out of grip. So long as you offroad 'properly' (ie not so fast that if you go beyond the limits of grip or ground clearance) you can just reverse back and have another go.

But, these look the part, and are the correct 175/65 15 size: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RIGA-Rall...801853?hash=item4aeb08cabd:g:5GIAAOSw7NNT6eS6

Well I got it ripped off rather sharpish and is now been made into a swing :D conti's all round again and all is normal. The missus car when back from the bodyshop needs some new ones as they are down to 3mm and that's my comfort zone, going to try the Rainsport 3
