General What did you do with your Panda today?

Along the way, we experienced three egregious examples of the "I'm Not Going to Be Overtaken By A Stupid-Looking Yellow Panda" mentality

I used to get that a LOT in my previous supercharged 4x4 and it seems to be increasingly common these days. Most people still assume a Panda to be slow, cheap and cheerful transport. We however, know differently.

Went to the cinema to celebrate the passing of another year on this weird planet. Watched 'IT'. Drove back in Armageddon-like weather... The road was like a river.

Took wifey's TA climbing in for its second MOT today, needs new exhaust £640! In the two years she has had it it's also needed new discs all round, strangely About the same cost, so in 24 months of ownership and 10k miles about £1300 quid.
Cheap motoring you can't beat it.

Hi.
For our 27th wedding anniversary we went for a nice run, stopping a few times and lastly dinner in Ayr. I filled up just as we left home (yet to update Fuelly) and reset the "B" trip. On the 78 mile trip I was up to 65.2mpg at one point and when I got home it was reading 62.9mpg. Well chuffed. Will be interesting to see the average on the next fill up.
Had a very nice day as well.

I realy wonder why these things needed replacement this soon. Two years and 10k is way too early for the discs and exhaust to need replacement.

Car was bought from Arnold Clark Inverness at two years old with 12500 on the clock, it was December so didn't really look at the car till spring, it was on first impression like new, anyway I then discovered the discs were completely shagged replaced those, also found the tyres which were the original fit were badly worn, so replaced those.
Now on its 4th anniversary and 23800k, the flex joint on the exhaust has blown, I know that I could fit a weld in flexy joint which would be cheaper, but the the whole exhaust is 4 years old so what would be the point...
Never buy a car in a hurry on a dark winter evening even from a main dealer,

It's almost as if it had been clocked, yet I know it has not.

Ah so the discs where realy a bit of bad luck then and ruined by the previous owner.Probably had a bit of a rough life the first two years.
About the exhaust I don't know what I would have done. In my familiy are two other Fiats and one(Panda 169) had a complete exhaust after 10 years and the other is still on the first exhaust after 11 years (Grande Punto).
I hope you have a lot of problem free miles from now on.

Hi i took my TA for a dianostic check to find the warning triangle problem.Just my luck no triangle on at all today.Anyway the scan reveall an old brake switch fault so the chap cleared it and said to report back if it apears again no charge for a re test. Cost today £25 +vat..

The previous owner lived in Thurso, and I'm guessing that they ran it for a while and then for some reason it sat for a very long time before they sold it on or a family member traded it in because though the discs were very pitted and rusty the pads themselves had loads of meat on them, and I'm guessing also that moisture had collected in the flex joint and sat for ages and weakened it,
I'm sure that it is underuse rather than misuse thats the problem.

As I mentioned the interior was pristine as were the alloys.

Left it a bit late leaving Cambridge to drive to Norwich in time for the 7.45 kick-off at Carrow Road, so this evening's dash along the A14/A11 with my football-mad daughter was brisker an usual. Along the way, we experienced three egregious examples of the "I'm Not Going to Be Overtaken By A Stupid-Looking Yellow Panda" mentality (once by a white van, once by a Vectra, and once by an A3). What is it with some people? Fuel consumption for the 65-mile trip was a lousy 32mpg. A new low. As for the football, don't ask!!!

Its the taking part that's important............ or so they say. Its got to improve soon!

These flexi joints are pain in the BUM!! You can get them separately and have them welded on if thats all thats gone though.

Interestingly, my mechanic says the water pump doesn't have a gasket it just uses some kind of a sticky sealant, and my particular panda is fitted with a vvt engine which he wasn't expecting

On the basis that my 60k service included all of the above for a Subaru Legacy at a main dealer, cost in excess of £1400 I was astounded to discover that didn't include a replacement water pump.. utter madness.
I think that's pretty decent.
