Like it or not Top Gear has announced it's new line up.

For those of you who don't know the chap on the left is Rory Ried, I google him and found a few of his videos online, I quite like his style and think he will be good.
Anyway here's what he thinks on the squirrels and his review of the Panda Cross.

Why is it still called BBC Topgear? Do they still own the brand although it's sold to Amazon? Depending on the style of the show the line up looks like it could be interesting, I don't have access to Amazon but hopefully this time it will be aimed at an audience with an IQ higher then 4!

The BBC is continuing with Top Gear, only with the new line up. It'd better be an improvement on Fifth Gear which can be dull to the point of unwatchable at times.

The Clarkson triumvirate have signed with Amazon to do their own show - I haven't heard the name of it announced yet. Their version of Top Gear worked because they emphasised the entertainment factor. Personally, I think they'd gone long enough and had lost a lot of the freshness that made it so much fun (we're getting repeats of old and new shows here on Foxtel). I fear there's a good chance this Amazon show will be a poor cousin of the original.

It would be good if the new Top Gear combines factual with personality. Ferraris etc don't interest me in the slightest, but it would be good to see road tests of cars we're actually likely to buy.

Yes, the BBC own "Top Gear".

It was part owned by another company, Bedder 6 (Better Sex??) and the BBC (50/50), Bedder 6 was part owned by Clarkson and Andy Wilman (30/20) the producer at the time and Clarksons school chum, it had Hammond and May as directors.

Bedder 6 sold their stake in Top Gear to the BBC a few years ago for a reported £14 million.

The new Amazon show will be completely new and nothing to do with the Top Gear brand or the BBC.

I believe the new format will be owned/partly owned by W.Chump & Sons
(a Clarkson, May, Hammond & Wilman company) and be produced by W.Chump & Sons Productions Ltd and another company Chump Productions.
(you can probably guess who owns these two companies!).

Personally, I quite liked all their puerile drivel and looking forward to their new show.
Three middle aged blokes messing around being deliberately politically incorrect.
Taken with the big pitch on salt it deserved, it was quite entertaining.

I actually new that so not sure what I was blathering on about!! A Clarkson moment perhaps!

Not everybody embraced TopGear that was, but many, many more did. My wife & I loved the shenanigans simply for what it was...tune in & hang on for the ride. Of course it was staged & contrived, of course it was well a bit over the top, but it was very entertaining.

The new TopGear, well, we will have to wait & see obviously how exactly they are going to perform & run the show. I'll watch anything aimed at the petrolhead & I consider myself a fair man indeed, however, I suspect what is going to be served up, will be a weak mish/mash of fact & fiction with a wee bit of humor thrown in.

I'm certainly not expecting a copying act of the old TopGear & perhaps I'm jumping the gun, but my waters do indeed foretell a bit of embarrassing moments & wooden action from the line up of Evans & co. But hey, we will wait & see as said......

Chris Harris is an inspired choice. I loved reading his articles in EVO and possibly Performance Car magazine (can't be bothered to confirm these on Google!) plus his online video test drives have been pretty good too. He's straight talking and a very very good driver. Think he was in the 911 support race at Le Mans '15 as well. Its nice too to have a driver who appreciates what makes 911s such good cars and doesn't keep banging on about the engine being in the wrong place! Things are looking up, imho (y)

Rumour has it that the new series on Amazon will be called "Gearknobs" and has a budget of £4.5m per episode, I would imagine the TG budget is considerably less especially with having a presenting team 7 strong. Just bought an Amazon Fire TV stick so I can watch it.

Will still be watching TG, there is certainly a place for a more "serious" car review programme but I can't do without my fix of puerile non pc blokes being daft which is a market Clarkson/May/Hammond have nailed.
