So, after many months of prevarication, I've finally bitten the bullet and agreed to buy a Twinair Cross - in yellow, naturally :D

I found one in stock locally to me, and took advantage of the end-of-financial-year melee to get it on what looks like a stunning deal - £3400 Privilege deposit contribution, a PX deal on my DS3 which I'm very happy with, and total interest charges (including the one-off £10 charge on final payment) of only £70. I was agreeably surprised to find that they've changed the finance terms since I last did the financial projections, and the former £285 final charge no longer applies - it makes a big difference to the overall cost of the finance. So borrowing £10k over 2 years is costing me just 67p per week.

It will be a wrench to say goodbye to my lovely DS3, which has been a joy to own and to drive, and I'll miss the extra 60hp, the stunningly good handling and the lovely yellow and black seats, but I'll now be able to get up & down our farm track in all weathers, and I'll still be able to drive to home games at Carrow Road in a suitably coloured car. (y) I suspect I'll be looking into some internal retrimming for the Cross - perhaps some yellow & black seat covers?- but I'll leave that for a while to see if I can get used to the whole bronze/brown interior vibe, which tbh is the only thing I don't like about the Cross.

The downside of buying from stock is that I had to forego the winter pack, but doing the deal now made great sense financially, especially as the DS3 is coming up to its 60k service. In any event, I'm not sure the bum warmers are any great loss - I find it's having a warm back that I appreciate the most - and with the money saved I can always stretch to the odd can of de-icer!

So, we will shortly have another Panda 4x4 the household - the first since our beloved D*** DVF, which we had from 1986-1993. And about time!

Hope you enjoy it.

I sense I'll replace the 100Hp with one of these at some point - twinair for sure and it would have to be yellow. And it'd match my 100Hp's current number plate of YE11OW*

Still have to get used to the looks though......inside and out.

If you ever decide to sell the plate, just pm me!

We saw a car with the reg YE11OWS on our way back along the A11 after a home game earlier this season, and my daughter (who is not easily impressed) was beside herself with envy. Sadly, it wasn't on a yellow car. Boring black Merc, iirc.

Just popped into the dealers to sign the finance forms. I didn't get to see my new little beastie (it was out the back, awaiting prep), but they had a another yellow Cross (a diesel) in the showroom. It's the first one I've seen in the flesh since they were released last year. I'd forgotten just how absolutely MENTAL it looks in the flesh! I thought my yellow & black DS3 was loud, but Ye Gods, it's a shrinking violet compared to the Cross! I can't wait to see the astonished faces of family, friends, neighbours and colleagues :D :slayer:

Well I am the proud owner of a bright yellow beastie, and I must say, it is a stonker! It is very...erm... visible!
I have noticed it does seem to attract wasps, just a bit... :/

Ha! I've had that problem with my yellow DS3 - and those irritating black flies in the summer really love it!

Still haven't picked mine up yet - it's waiting for me at the dealers, but that's a round trip of 140 miles, and I've been hellishly busy in work - must remember to buy some new sunglasses first!

Just arranged to collect my new little beast on Monday morning. Am currently mulling over whether I should wash & polish my PX, which is looking decidedly grimy. I may well do so, if only for the sake of the photo opportunity (two mentally yellow cars, old and new, in one shot - what's not to like? :D)

Oh, and I must remember to buy those sunglasses...

Just picked it up (I haven't yet decided whether it's a 'him' or a 'her'!!)

Bagged the "old and new car" photos at the dealership - they must have thought I was mental, but they kindly lined up my two little yellow beasties in front of the showroom. When I work out how to download photos onto here, I'll post them up.

First impressions - s/he hits the rev limiter surprisingly easily (oops), and it's very disconcerting how the growliness suddenly disappears once you're up to cruising speed. The seat feels a bit lacking in support at the sides and the front, but then I'm used to a much more heavily sculpted seat in the DS3 and the Barchetta.

And did I mention that it's bright? By 'eck it's bright!

Hats off to Glyn Hopkin in Cambridge (the new Fiat franchise, as of a few months ago) for a straightforward transaction and a cracking deal, with no prevarication or bullsh*t. Stuart Swanson's the man - very happy to recommend him. The jury's still out on their after-sales service, of course..

I'm now off to work in Norwich, so the mileage is going to ramp up pretty quickly.

First trip to Carrow Road in the wee yellow beastie today, and a great result, so it's now officially a "lucky car".

My daughter - who approves of the colour but is sceptical about the vehicle it's applied to - looked at the side-moulding and asked me, "Why's it got 'Crass' written on the side?"

Cracks like that might just cause me to 'forget' to put her on the insurance at renewal time.

Got lots of cheers and waves from happy Canaries fans after the match, while driving through Norwich with a yellow flag attached to the aerial. #scenes

Just about to hit the 1000-mile mark in the wee yellow beastie, and on my regular 70-mile trip from Cambridge to Beccles today she did a very pleasing 55 mpg - nearly 20 mpg better than she managed late last Saturday night when doing the same trip in the opposite direction. The traffic today was heavy, so we were forced into a steady 40-50 mph amble most of the way, whereas on Saturday night our progress was <ahem> rather more sprightly.

I'm really surprised at how sensitive the TA's fuel consumption is to rate of progress and, in particular, rate of acceleration. Smoothness seems to be the key. I find that I'm driving it like my only other twin pot, my late-lamented 2CV (also yellow :D) where maintaining hard-won speed was of the essence. The difference, of course, is that in the TA you have the option of burying your right foot in the carpet and feeling it take off like an angry wasp (unless you've engaged the wretched Eco button, when I swear it accelerates even slower than a 2CV...)

Spooky coincidences yesterday - I took the wee yellow beastie on a trip up the M1 for a conference, and bumped into an old chum (not literally) in the car park, who was parking his shiny new green Panda 4x4. His looks much more grown-up compared to mine :D
