Had the trekking for 10 months now, just done 5900 miles. I got my first test on snowy derbyshire roads today. Loose snow, compacted snow and slush.

The first part of the journey I was stuck behind a nervously-driven VW Toureg doing 18 miles an hour. Felt the Panda could have handled going faster.

The final part of the journey involved breaking at a junction whilst going down hill on compacted snow.

The Panda took all this in it's stride, I never once felt unsafe or out of control. Dropped my daughter off at nursery without breaking a sweat. Amazing

This is exactly what I bought the car for - those couple of winter months where snow affects the roads-and couldn't be more happy with it's capability. And all whilst delivering 50mpg and a warm bum! What an amazing little car.

Would still like to upgrade to a Cross though ;)

Me too......if only it had a sunroof and it would be perfect :)

Like what they said (y)
First bit of snow and many drivers panic, driving like they've entered a minefield.
Yesterday with a little bit of snow and my 6 mile town drive home had ground to a halt before it had started. I took a detour through some snow covered country lanes and a few extra miles, my trekking TA didn't mis a beat and felt perfectly at home.
I'm old enough to rember driving through bad winters in the 80's, so I know how good the trekking realy is ;)

I mentioned on another thread how I'm on another car forum and the members there are getting worried picking up their shiny new cars with snow around, whereas here the Trekking and 4x4 members are envious of those who actually have a decent amount of white stuff around.

Looking at the forecast for the following week I'm also pleased that I put winter tyres on the 500.

thats really reassuring to read as im waiting for my first ever trekk to arrive, and the main reason i chose that was for the snow, i too would love the cross but felt i couldnt justify the extra money and get the benefit of it.

luckily we dont get snow much down in kent so im hoping the trek be perfect for my needs, thanks for the review
