Now that 'Chrysler' has stopped selling the Ypsilon, maybe FIAT should just rebadge that and pretend it's the Panda facelift.

Thus, all folks that wanted standard 16" wheels, climate, cruise control, proper leather bits and 'assisted parking' would have a Marmite-looking car with all the toys. And it's made in Poland.

The panda is made in Italy

Given that Fiat sold three times more Pandas than Ypsilons across Europe last year, even they wouldn't be mad enough to try and pull that off.

I've tried so hard to like the Ypsilon purely because it's a Lancia, but I just can't. It's absolutely hideous, wheras to me the Panda is a really appealing little car. Did you know FCA sell the Chrysler 300C as a Lancia in Italy? It's enough to make you weep.

IIRC the Ypsilon is made in Poland in the Tychy factory. It's based on the 500, not the new Panda.

It also looks nothing like a Panda. IMHO it's more like what the joint venture Ka should have been.

It has a few inches extra in the wheelbase over the 500/Panda and the looks are 'difficult' but at least not dull. And it's built in Poland..........like all good FIATs.

I was given an Ypsilon as a hire car in the South of France last year. Imagine driving through St Tropez in one. I nearly died of shame.

Oh, and it was horrid to drive, too.

So, will the facelift be at Geneva in a few weeks time:confused:

It was there that I feel in love with the 500 (and bought one) and a couple of years later, saw the Cross, loved that and bought one(y)

Rumor has it that there will be a lot of FCA news @ Geneva this year, don't know if the facelift/restyle Panda will be part of that.
Personally i think the Panda will debut @ Paris, later this year.

I'm sure it will be sooner rather than later. The next Panda is due 2018-19 so a facelift later this year would hardly be worth it.

I'm wondering whether the 2018 replacement will be based on the X1H prototype - it's 3.6m, so about the right length, and looks a bit like the new Tipo (i.e. the 'rational' family)

I don't expect that much change on the Panda.
Based on the camo pictures there does not look much hes changed.
Al the lights look exactly the same to me, as do the front and rear bumper.
The biggest change will be done to the interior, because of the new Uconnect multi media system.
This new system need a big redesign of the dashboard.
Based on the latest Fiat Products i'm not convinced the the new 2018/19 Panda will look better then the present one.

According to Italian rumors, this facelift/Restyle Panda is still in the first stages of development, meaning it will not @ Geneva.
Most likely it will be @ Paris later this year, as a 2017 model.
Also to this rumor the changes will be minimal, meaning most likely just tech upgrades, like Uconnect.

Agree that the seats need attention. I took a Panda for the day while my 500 was serviced as I'm considering switching when we get a four legged friend. The seats offered very little side support. Maybe OK for a base model, but top panda models are not cheap, and go off-road where you get joggled about more, and raised suspension means more body roll. Otherwise I really enjoyed it. Spoiling the ship for a hapeth of tar.

I still hope there will be something like a Panda S after the facelift/restyle, with for example the All new GSE 1.0ltr 12v 3-cylinder MultiAir Turbo engine and ± 120 hp.
Or at leased with the 105 hp TwinAir Turbo.

Today Volkswagen has released a press release of the face-lifted up!.
The Facelift also means, the introduction of a 1.0ltr TSI engine with 90 hp and 160 Nm of torque.
This little 3cylinder engine have the potential after a remap, to produce 140 hp and 240 Nm of torque.
I think the face-lifted Panda really need a engine power upgrade.

No offence but Volkswagen Up! cars are very expensive already. The total cost of their financial package for a basic 60 HP model is £11,039.70!

Let alone the 75 HP model, never mind the new 90 HP!

Went to Geneva on the weekend. No news on the facelift but they had a Green Cross on the stand, a limited edition Kung Foo Panda & a hulking great LS200 based Fullback (which I quite liked).

I think I may have found the Panda replacement (for a few years) too :D

Release expected in early 2017.

The current Fiat Panda is in its third generation and was introduced in late 2011.
Fiat is now readying a mid-life facelift for the top seller to launch in 2017, as seen in these first spy shots that surfaced in January.

Based on the spyshots and more recent Fiat facelifts, an unofficial rendering from Laco Design previews the model.

Fiat Panda facelift rendering
The 2017 Fiat Panda will carry refreshed lights and bumpers, while the sheet metal is not expected to change.
The render features new split grille design and door mirrors with integrated turn signals.
If the latter is seen on the actual model, the turn signals on the fenders would be removed.
Given its price point, LED headlights and LED tail lights aren’t expected to be offered.
These features may find their way to the facelifted Fiat Panda 4×4 and the facelifted Fiat Panda Cross, as neither come for a bargain price of the standard Panda.

The interior changes may include new upholstery, steering wheel, instrument cluster and dashboard trim.
The facelift may finally bring the Uconnect infotainment system to the Panda, likely with a 5-inch display.
These changes will also be seen in the Fiat Panda 4×4 and the Fiat Panda Cross.

The facelift will likely introduce the Uconnect infotainment system with the 5-inch display to the Fiat Panda.
The current Fiat Panda is offered in five configurations (68hp 1.2L petrol+5MT, 94hp 1.3L diesel+5MT, 84 hp 0.9L petrol+5AT, 68hp 1.2L LPG+5 MT and 84 hp 0.9L+5MT) and they are expected to remain more or less the same, probably with tweaks for better fuel efficiency and lesser CO2 emission.

Rivals: Hyundai i10, Ford Ka, Toyota Aygo, Kia Picanto, Skoda Citigo
Expected price: From €11,000
Expected release (Europe): Early 2017
