So, for those of us Luddites who lack a detailed technical knowledge/understanding, is that smartphone gizmo only available on the new models, or can it be fitted to older Pandas which have the sat nav socket?

You know what,

The more I look at the new interior the better it looks.

It's just when you compare it to the bright, unique colours previously offered it seems dull.

But if it gets more buyers accustomed to the dull German interiors of other city cars (and their copycat Korean uprising equivalents!) and they end up buying a Panda then it can only be good for Fiat and the likelihood we'll all be able to buy a Panda in the future in the UK.

I like the smartphone idea, but I suppose if you don't have an Android or iPhone then you may hate the fact the only option is to buy a £300 ish phone (give or take) to take advantage. Crafty Fiat.

Did someone mention that the new interior is different for Pop, Easy and Lounge? What about 4x4 and Cross?

Harumph. Be interesting to know what's changed under the skin - it's still ugly - my Italian neighbour's Mk 3 Cross reminds me every day how much better-looking it is than my 4x4 TA - it's still bedevilled with those squircles - and now it has a video game to distract the driver. Not convinced.

Interior is better, but not best. Exterior? Still few colour choices.

Drove an Ypsilon 15 miles the other day. I quite like the dash layout now, but what was most impressive was the ride. A kind of cross between our Dynamic and our 100hp - i.e. you can go over road-bumps at 30mph and yet the cornering was frankly staggering.

Lovely one for sale in Northern Ireland. Trying to think if we have a forum regular who lives there that should have a drive in it............

Trouble for me, is the Ypsilon is a car I wouldn't be seen dead in, the Panda on the other hand doesn't phase me at all, I did want a bigger second car but SWMBO wouldn't go for a bigger car and I've grown to love it, the Subaru gets left on the drive awaiting those airport pickups and runs to the recycle centre.

Where in N. Ireland?

If the first owner bought it at list, that's a lot of depreciation in a couple of years.

Well, they ended up paying top dollar (£6200) for a 64 reg 9000 miler. But it's 'find another'. Suspect the trade-in was well below £5000. But what other two year old car has that spec, if you really want it?

£7000 depreciation in 2 years sounds a lot, until you start talking BMW, Merc, Mondeo etc. All relative.

It's not a car for everyone, but definitely the best Panda I've driven!

No return for the MJ in the non 4x4 models though :( don't know what i will do when my current Panda needs replacing. I do a lot of miles and motorway driving so the petrol units would be a big mpg drop from easy 65mpg i get now.

They're removing the Multijet??? Which source says that?

I know they're removing the FIRE due to age and regulations

If the TwinAir is all that's left, and the asking price goes above £10,000 it's over to Dacia land for me :-/

I think the end of Diesel engines in cars is near, 5 to 10 years at most IMHO.

Seriously?

due to the bloody DPF issues and emissions I wouldn't be surprised.

I can see Fiat etc holding on as long as they can though as the Panda is probably one of the best diesels you can buy for the money and at the size?

Really hate the idea of the two cylinders. They're really not going to last the test of time, think about it.. twice the wear going through half of the heavy metal?! And the force of a turbo... I'd say after 5-6 years cars will be dead as door nails and even scrapped due to blown turbos and worn pistons..

This is what the companies love! Making you take out a high interest finance plan for 60 months and having to trade in your car at the end because it's so lifeless and worn internally?!

Maybe I'm being over dramatic but I'd happily stick to the slow, but reliable FIREs and the 1.2 in the Sandero which at least guarantees longevity if serviced right :-/

It is already clear that the days for the TwinAir engines are numbered.
The new FireFly GSE 3 and 4 cylinder engines will replace all FIRE and TwinAir engines in due time. ;)
