Went and drove our local dealers yellow TA cross on saturday. The extra oomph and 6th gear certainly goes some way to answer my criticisms over our current 06 4x4, mainly, that its not that great on the motorway.

It also helps that we can get it on the privelige finance, although they'll only give us 1500 trade in on the current one, anyone know what would be a normal private sale value?

Oh, and quite like the red, although the misses wants to go yellow like the demo, hmmmm....

Hi there. Great to see your gonna go for a cross.
What age is your old 4x4? Miles etc. Hows ur red paint?
Is it all good? If so, it will sell well this winter, so dont give it away to the dealer!
To judge the price its worth, see what others are going for on the various car sites.
Price it using Parkers guide or the likes.
I'm sure the guys that really know their stuff on here will help u out but give them all the details u can. How would u rate it? A1, well used but cared for? Glad to see the back of it?

As above, could you give some more info on the condition & mileage please?

I have been following these recently as I bought a 2007 1.2 4x4 in September. That was £1500 but with 110k on the clock and a couple of minor cosmetic issues (good history & the suspension all sorted though). I thought I'd got a bargain but someone else got a 2006 with low mileage and looked very clean for about £1600!

Quite a few don't seem to sell at about the £2k mark, but quite a few are for sale at considerably more (no idea if they sell).

If you put a few pics up & a good description of its condition I'll throw a figure at you based on 3 months of wading through classified ads!! (y) might even consider yours and move mine on for what I paid depending on what it's like - a remote would be nice (mine just has 2 standard keys annoyingly) but I believe you gave it a salt bath..... ;)

Yeah, sadly i'm trying to sort out the remote at the minute! Shame, because other than that its pretty decent.

Its got one scuff on the back bumper and a wiper arm has flaked its paint, but the body paints ok and its generally quite tidy I think. oh yeah, and after the standard exhaust rotted, i had a custom stainless one made, looks well tidy from behind! :)

It needs the current plate put on retention, but I think its either an 06 or just into a 56, 72k miles. Was hoping to tidy up a couple of the issues before selling.

Well there's not a lot around under £2500 at the moment, so it sort of depends how quickly you need to sell it. I think any more than that it's likely to stick unless you get someone in the same place looking for one. Of course if we get snow or a cold snap, all bets are off!

For a sensible private sale I'd try £2200-£2450, and for a quick sale you probably want to be around £2000. You should still make a few £100 over the p/ex even for a quick sale though. Of course nothing is guaranteed & I know the one picked up cheaply I mentioned was because they needed to get rid of it (a new Panda 4x4 I think) - they started it off too high, then ended up selling it too cheaply to get it out of the way!!

Where are you by the way? I'm hoping you're miles away so I'm not tempted to look at it - I like my 4x4 and it's all good, but you always wonder if there's a nicer one lurking for a few £100 more........ :tempt:

Presumably you wouldn't need to actually p/ex it if you sold the old one while the Cross is being built? That might be an option - stick it in the classified's at a sensible price & see if you can get a buyer before you need to p/ex it?

I dont think we'll qualify for any loyalty bonus as both our current fiats are second hand.

I suspect you're right about the price, I'm in west cumbria, so there's not a massive audience, but at least with the hills and narrow lanes its quite a useful vehicle.

We'll get the plate on the go and once thats done i think it'll probably be an sell while you order job (y)

I only bought my fiat punto hgt a couple of months ago due to my alfa 159 destroying its gearbox. Grabbed the punto for £300 while I waited for the cross launch and then my fiat dealership offered me 500 on top of the trade-in price of the punto. I think I'm the 5th and last owner. I dont know if the loyalty bonus is a fiat thing or the Scottish dealership that offers it. By why should they when it was FGA that I was getting the finance quote from.

So does the loyalty bonus only apply if you trade in one Fiat for another? Or do you just have to be an existing Fiat owner?

I'd quite like another cheeky £500 off a Cross/4x4, but not if I have to trade in my lovely Barchetta!

That would be a lovely pair, Cross for winter Barchetta for summer. Always been an itch I would love to scratch the Barchetta. One day...:D

That's the thinking (y)

Can thoroughly recommend B ownership - best £3k I ever spent! Puts a smile on my face each time I look at it, let alone drive it. But it's best kept as a fair-weather car. Mine never goes out in the wet.

I very nearly bought a barchetta a couple years ago. Always admired it.....from what I have been reading, fiats forthcoming version of the new mx5 could be its successor..... Might have to take a look :p

It will have to go some to be prettier than the B :worship:

Yes, the last report I saw (a few months ago) was about a Fiat/Abarth version. If it were to become the new Barchetta I'd be unable to resist temptation, although not at the expense of my old B, so the ride-on lawnmower would just have to rough it outside so that my babies could both be tucked up in the dry.

Yes the Fiat/Abarth is still on, a spiritual successor to the 124 maybe, might go down well in the US. Fiat signed a cooperation deal with Mazda and pulling out is something Fiat could ill afford. It seems that the styling of what was to be the next Alfa Spider was so drop dead gorgeous that Mazda stylists had to go back to the drawing board!
