I have heard from westfalia that they now have their towbars available for the panda 4x4.
I am looking at getting the detachable fitted. Has anyone had this done yet? If so, does anyone have recommendations for a fitting centre in the larger Wrexham area?

Yes, mine was fitted on Monday! So far so good. Very neat installation by a mobile fitter from Bournemouth. Bit of a glitch with the fog lights (the one on the car no longer worked!) but westfalia have sent a new control unit which I fitted myself today (5mins) and all seems to be well.

Not a thing. Even the electrics swing up out of the way. One word of warning though, you will be left with a huge chunk of 'car' from behind the bumper which is made redundant by fitting the tow bar.
Oh, and its not exactly cheap either - I paid 500 quid!
 
I think it's the dedicated electrics that make it quite a lot. I have had two quotes so far £560 for mobile fitting and £512 in a centre. Need to get it sorted soon though. Not been able to take my bike anywhere without the towbar to arty the bike rack.
 
That should have been 'carry' the bike rack.
Called to buy the bar only to be told that the 13pins electrics are on back order until September. Guess I have to wait a little bit longer.
 
Its a 13 pin plug & play loom and they gave me an adaptor for my 7pin trailer

That's the European plug in the UK we have used the 2x7 pin set up for years ... Having the 13 pin your towbar electrics now fall under mot criteria ie they must work :)

I'd cut the trailer plug off personally and rewire with a 13 pin plug

Really? What a pain (more EU interference no doubt). Thanks, I'll do that if I can work out which wire goes where! Mind u I've got 3 years to worry about it before the cars 1st mot.. . :)
 
Uk=Europe, 2x7 is just old now. All new caravans come with a 13 pin plug, so it makes sense to have 13 pins electrics on the towbar. You post implies that the towbar only falls under the mot regulations if it has 13 pins electrics, but all of them do.

So what good is a single 13 pin plug when you need to quickly connect a 7pin light board on the back of a trailer / bike rack :confused:
 
Dedicated 7 pin electrics are available, but unfortunately my bike rack and the trailer tent I hope to have one day have 13 pin plugs. Not a fan of adapter leads.

I can't see where you got that from :confused: I merely stated that 13 pin sockets must function at mot time 7 pin are not tested :)
