General Vibration

General Vibration

When I test drove the panda ta, I actually found the vibration to be significantly less than a 500 I had driven previously (although that was a year or so old and changes may have been made)

Changes have been made.
I owned a twin air 500 for a year and the panda is different.

If you drop below around 1300 rpm in the panda in higher gears the car automatically adds throttle.
This didn't happen in the 500. You could drop lower than that and the motor would rattle, buck and protest if you accelerated too quickly.
Eco mode in the 500 would smooth this out to a certain extent, but the panda is smoother still in either mode.

Maybe new 2013 500's are smoother too?

Hi Guys,

Recently traded in my beloved 60Reg Punto Evo for a new Panda Lounge.

The problem is after 3.5k i have started getting a booming vibration noise through the cabin at around 2500rpm, this only happens when the car is either cold or if it has been wet and raining. after about 15 minutes it goes, but for that period its really intrusive.

The dealer has checked the exhaust, checked for loose heat shields and has removed the dash and re-sited the heater box, however this morning its still doing it!!

Anyone else have the same problem? I love the car however this noise is spoiling things a bit.

Please tell us which engine you've got- otherwise any replies may be useless!

UPDATE

Dealer has called today and has confirmed the noise/vibration.

It is a fault on one of the cylinders so will either need a engine rebuild and repair or a new engine!!!!

Not happy with this on a 5 month old car with 3.5k on the clock

I wouldn't be happy either.

I'd want a new engine at least.

Nothing to do with Fiat, but I have read that Renault/Dacia has taken back a few newly delivered Dusters and replaced them, because of rust coming through the welds

An engine you can change, but once the bodywork goes..... Dacias are not galvanized. Thank god Fiats are...

I'd want a new engine. Very, very few dealerships have the skilled technicians & sterile working environment necessary to rebuild an engine to factory standard.

I'd be interested to know what has actually happened to it. This kind of fault is, thankfully, extremely rare - the 1.2 FIRE is normally mechanically robust.
