Hi, I'm Thinking about getting a 1.2 69bhp panda, it looks to have really good MPG. Does it meet it quoted mpg ? Hoping some owners can let me know about what there's are achieving and what the running costs are on panda's (y)

I have a 1.2 and am getting around 53-54 mpg both on the trip computer and by my own calculations. I do a mixture of town driving and A-roads. Great car so far and having previously owned two 1.2 Dynamic skydomes over 6 years, I am very pleased with the new Panda.

Hello AfterDark,

My experiences so far in our 1.2 Easy are quite similar to Oscar's - we have been averaging between 45-55mpg (with a 60% A-roads, 30% motorways and 10% urban split) depending on how spirited I drive. To be honest, you'd struggle to get much below 45mpg on a mixed cycle unless you drive the thing like you stole it!:D

The 1.2 is a great versatile engine; it loves to be driven hard sometimes but is also more than happy to plod along if you fancy a good eco drive. Its official average mpg figure is 54.3 mpg and it is well within reach without too much effort.

In terms of other running costs, servicing is (as yet) an unknown, but you'd have to assume that an oil/filter change with a Fiat dealer is going to be somewhere in the region of £100-120.

In short, the 1.2 will pretty much deliver what you'd expect it to(y)

Went on our longest journey to date so far this weekend, a trip down to Portsmouth and a round trip of 320 miles.

Averaged 50.8mpg (50.5mpg calculated) with a very full load, air con on for the vast majority of the way and also giving it some beans when going up hills!(y)

If I am honest I think that figure could have easily been 54-56mpg with completely changing my driving style; I just wasn't prepared to chug slowly up the hills in fifth gear!:D
