Reunited with an old friend....

The wines been out tonight (but ebay was banned ) and I've just got an old friend back in the last 24hrs!

The Barchetta had a brake problem this week and the Saab decided to throw a CV joint at the same time leaving a rusty 4x4 in the garage and the Kangoo for Alan to take to work.... One quick phone call to Stu later and I was on my way down to Dollingstown to reunite with my panda partner in crime!

It's been ages since I last drove a panda (Nov? When I took her down to Stu's for TLC?) and god, I've missed the fun. Like I've driven that car all over the world and it still feels 'right' and so 'tight'.... There's only 20k less miles on it than Juppy but he feels like he's been round the world and back again and Sylvia still has that 'one little old lady owner' sense with no rattles or clonks. You'd never guess that 6 months ago this was the car that battled the 125'F heat of Death Valley while climbing 2000 feet above sea level from 250 feet below the pacific....

So we bombed down the motorway into Belfast and made mince meat of the traffic on the Westlink (Belfasts answer to the M25). The bolshie man in the E Class that wouldn't let me out at the road works won't forget the NIIMC panda in a hurry

This morning I jumped in to Sylvia and took her to work where she battled the snow and ice and we opened on time even when the guy who walked to work was late because of the cold!

So at about 5 tonight this woman walks into the shop and comes up to Adrian that I'm working with and asks...

"Is that THE car!"

"What car?" Adrian asked.

"Sylvia? the one that they where talking about on the radio?"

Adrian said "Yeah, that's it and the idiot owner is out the back!"

"Can I say hello to him?"

And Adrian thinks... "Jesus love, it's a panda and it's dickhead owner, not Sean Connery!" but thankfully he kept that one to himself!
(well, until she left then told me what he was thinking )

It's been a good day

Jim

It is good to see her back on the road. Did you have to pay a ransom to get her back?

That piece of string you allegedly call a 'tow-rope' is still in the back of the Kangoo... I'll fish it out and drop it down to you (the Printer is still there too come to think of it... )

Oh and we still need a mastercylinder.... I'll get it sorted after I get the Barchetta (new rear calipers) and Saab (engine mounts now) sorted

Jim

Think we've been there & done that

To be honest I think I would change it for the later one and just play with the pipes, as long as you have a good flairing kit it will take minutes, some lucky git on here got a brand new one for £19.99 plus postage the same as the one I just paid £40-£50 for.
