Has anyone got a pic of there 4x4 towbar fixing, having just had one delivered it looks nothing like the floorpan, and would like to confirm the fixing before asking a few questions.

Blimey that end bolt looks like it goes through the floor... I haven't actually looked at the end of the towbar... but the other bits look the same. I shall provide you with pics tomorrow Alan.

I'll look now and see if there is anything from other photo sessions i can use as reference.

ok on my tow bar that end bolt is horizontal, but i am thinking maybe there is a plastic gromit hiding a hole for the bolt in the middle of the boot floor.

Alan, checking my panda owner handbook (page 53) the middle two bolts (65mm apart) bolt to the rear bumber jacking point. The front bolt looks all wrong, the handbook says it should mount like Tony's. cheers Damon

Thanks....Never thought about the hand book I'll have a look.....it says on the instructions about going through the chassis rail whether I have to drill that or not I'll wait n see. Maybe should have went to Fiat but at £28 brand new had to try it.

The diagram on page 73 is a bit veigue :(

My handbook is for the mk2b and covers 2wd, 4x4 and van varients. It has a diagram showing all measurements of the six posible mounting holes. I will try and get a copy up tomorrow if it helps?

looking at it in a fresh light... it might fit like you suggest Alan, using the hole in the strut as the front fixing point. my only concern being the amount of stress that will be put onto the 3 mounting points that you have. take iteasy starting and stopping.

OK fitted, I never saw the two holes pre-drilled in the rear valance section, the forward mounting point was to be drilled through the chassis rail into the boot floor having alligned the rear two mounts. So fits very well and is very secure.

I wired it up as well, but first thing i did was to throw all the scotch lock clips into the bin & soldered all the connections so SORTED :)

Many thanks for your help (y)

The towbar bolt should not protrude into the boot - this would mean that the boot floor is compressed down toward the chassis.

However, an access hole should be drilled through the boot floor to tighten the bolt thath holds the towbar to the chassis . . . . . . . . . . .

It has a sleeve the width of the chassis rail that the bolt goes through so can't do that so only the head of the bolt and a washer 5mm is visible & doesn't affect anything as a result. The floor certainly isn't dented or stressed

I'll probably take the BM or won't be able to fit the propshaft, the air-con may also be beneficial.

I'm happy with it Tony and not worried at all.
Well, there should be too much stress on it ... your only allowed to tow @600 kg anyway.
