Hello John.
Could you please confirm for me if your Selecta has three extra items on the underside of the fuse box ?
One is a relay, the second is the "door open" pinger and the third, a diode in a fuse type holder. If present, these should be clipped on as extra items to the underside of the fuse box.

Thanks for your help, Pete, [email protected]

I don't know if I qualify to be in your panda club!!!
But I once owned a panda sisley 4x4 and it was the most exciting car i ever driven (am i strange to think this).
I'm sorry I ever got rid of it, the money it would of cost to put it right, thinking about it would be money well spent.

I would show up my mates when I was driving this because they would struggle to get past it, in there 1.2 & 1.3's.

Not many people know how good a panda is, I will now preach the word of the PANDA!!!!

Of Course you do Gaz![^]

Panda owners (Current, past & future[!];)), enthusiasts and anyone with any ideas / answers / queries (or general discussion!) are more than welcome here!:D

Glad you enjoyed your Sisley; sounded like fun.:D

Why did she die? What went wrong that was too expensive? Tell us more!

Shame she did; I gather Sisley's have a bit of a cult following, now. Wouldn't mind one meself (or even the 4x4 inclinometer for may Panda!)

Cheers
John

BTW - Unos are quite smart as well!! ;)

Where do I start with the problems:
1. Hole in the floor used to leak water like hell. Needed a bit of welding - £50-70

2. Petrol leak coming from somewhere, but could smeel it inside the car - £100-150

3. Handbrake cable streatched so about £50-60 for a new one

4. Sloppy gear lever, didn't really need a new one but it was very annoying - £60-100

5. It didn't really have much rust on it, apart from the doors and roof where some to55er took pot shots at it with an airgun. I never treated it straight away so it went quite bad. £60-80

To get all these jobs done it would of cost about £500 so I decided to sell it and got an Uno instead.

With all the trouble I had with my Uno I wish I kept it and spent the money.

Hello John.
Thank you for your confirmation of the relay, pinger and diode on your fuse box. I would like to find out what the diode is for, especially as, according to Fiat, it does not exist.

I have two Pandas and an Uno. Panda is the best car I have ever owned.
Rgds, Pete.

Strange indeed.....[?][?]

I will endevour to establish what purpose this 'diode' serves
(always a good idea to know what the bits in your car do - in case they die [xx(] on you!)

Cheers
John

Blimey Himey! This is a challenge.[?]

I'm not sure how, but I will try my best to find out!:)

No promises, though! [:0]

And of course - 'Shalom to PandaLand c/o the FiatForum!!':D:D

John

Otherwise, if you can't wait for me(!), you could try the Fiat Israeli site at www.fiat.co.il. There might be an email address to contact; I can't tell as I can't read Hebrew!

i need to buy some parts for my panda, i think i need an ecu because i used to be an employee at a fiat service centre and i have seen this problem once before has anyone else:

car runs fine and then cuts out,
when the ignition is turned off and then back on the fuel pump buzzes up to pressure but car while still not start.
leave it for twenty minutes everything is fine, but if tanking up motorway then the car doesnt cut out!!!
any help gratefully received and if anyone has an ecu for a panda 1 litre fire on a k i would be pleased to hear from them. cheers nath

Before you splash out on expensive parts, you could find out if the problem is fuel or spark, by popping a spare spark plug on one of the lead ends when it stops, and cranking to try and start it.

If you have no spark initially, then after a while cooling off it all starts to work, you have a problem with the electronic distributor.
(Assuming yours is an early "K" with a conventional electronic distributor and a full set of plug leads - not the later twin coil variety).

I had this exact fault on my (K) Panda.
It is stock fault on UNOs too.

i have a black J reg Dance with 55k

A few questions
1)any tips on new headlamps. Xenon for example are 25£ and I do wish to make my car more visible.
2) my fues box has space for 3 relays ut has only 2 in place. What do they all do?
3) My fan never comes on and the engine threatens to overheat.
What temp should normally be displayed (90?), what temp should fan switch on? apart from fuse which must be fine since horn works, what should i do to investigate?
4) can i get new more comfortable seats from a car scrappers yaard?
5) where to egt a new radio aerial
6) rear washer does not work. Any tips?
thanks nrb

Hi, and welcome to the forum.

1) I understand that the wiring and switches have little spare capacity to cope with the extra current of higher wattage bulbs:
the best option is a pair of relays mounted on the inner wing, UK drivers side, with the (in line fused) power direct from the battery, and the anabling voltage from the original wiring to the nearest headlight.

2) the "relays" on mine are:
heated rear window.
flasher unit.
intermittant wipe delay.

3) try unplugging the lead from the switch on the radiator and bridging the two connectors (mind your fingers in the fan[xx(].
If it runs - you need a new switch.
If it doesn't run, try supplying an earth to each of the two terminals. If it works on a separate lead - you have an earthing problem on the (troublesome) connector block on the inner wing behind the gearbox side headlight.
If it still doesn't run, you either have a failed fan, or no power to the fan.
ISTR the switch is about 92 degrees, give or take 2.

4) Front seats from a Lancia Y10 fit without modification - I have some in my CLX.
AFAIK, anything else will demand metalwork skills.

5) pass.

6) As I'm sure you know the rear washer is activated by a firm push on the rear wipe button.
Can you hear the washer motor run, when listening under the bonnet?
If so, you maybe have a blocked non-return valve, or a failed impeller on the pump: unplug the pipe off the pump (it will leak everywhere) and see if the pump works.
I think the rear pump is the one nearest the radiator, but might be wrong.

If the pump doesn't run... I think the two pumps have similar electrical connectors... I'd expect to be able to cross plug (maybe helped by unbolting the washer bottle (10mm tube spanner) and moving it a bit) to see if can power the rear wash off the front electrics.

Let us know how you get on.

Regards
