So, she's arrived but as I haven't had one of these, I was looking for an owners manual to let me know how the 4wd works, but no joy.
I thought it was permanent 4wd, does that mean that the pull lever aft of the gear lever is a diff lock, or does it lock the rear wheels into drive?
Also, would appreciate a pic of the standard engine bay if anyone has one. Mine has an ENORMOUS screen washer tank mounted on the o/s inner wing, as well as the normal one mounted on the other side, partially under the spare wheel.

The aft gear lever is for engaging and disengaging the rear wheels for 4x4.

Pandas never had diff lock as standard.

I'm afraid the say, your ENORMOUS washer tank is a standard Sisley part. Solely for the purpose of washing your headlights in the event of muddy off-roading. Kind of pointless really.

But ... it's the size of the flippin' fuel tank!! Oh well. But thanks for the speedy response (y)

also to make the washer work on the headlights the headlights have to be on, holding in the spray function produces a short blast :)

Thanks. (y)
Doesn't say THAT in the owners book, although it makes reference to the wipers...which mine doesn't have; just washers.

From the size of the tank, I could turn the nozzles sideways and use them as a shower if we go camping in it ...

You would have to alter the wiring as headlamp washer pump is on delayed relay so you have to use windscreen washer for 3-5 sec to activate the headlamp ones. For me more of an styling thing as the bumper nozzle pods does add to the look.

Well also it can be piped up to the washer arm for direct spray (Rally car style) when it gets really muddy isa better use of that super tanker

Which makes more sense, because it seems bizarre to me that the smaller tank has to be drained for 3-5secs, so that the Torrey Canyon can start to do it's thing.
I suspect that I shall be putting a link pipe between the two tanks to even them out ... unless there already is one, of course ... either that or using it as a reserve fuel tank to make up for the lost 5l in the main tank :D

The gear selector is laughably sloppy - I presume that this requires a new linkage bush set, of which there seem to be loads on fleabay?
The clutch is also undriveably short, I know that it is adjustable on the cable end, just wondering if there is anything else that might be causing this, that I should be aware of as I'm in the bowels of the engine bay, spanner in hand?

I dont recall wipers ever being an option but I will be happy to stand corrected! Didnt see any with headlight wipers in Rome either, maybe a translation error?

Think it unlikely a translation error, given the wording - maybe they were anticipating wipers being an option and no-one wanted them, or Fiat ended up not actually offering them?

Yeah the linkage bushes will even that out no problem

Clutch cable stretched or frayed thrust bearing f***** causing wear to finger springs on clutch cover plate common fault due to riding clutch. *** also check the drive boot covers gaiters are fully intact and check gear box oil level *** rear diff oil level Rear drive shaft seal ( no oil passing into brakes ) One important thing though is to take the inclement metre to its fullest extent
In both directions. This will cause

If I take the INCLINOMETER to it's fullest extent and all those Pandas fall out, I'll be inundated with Chinese Coach Parties, taking pictures, won't I?
And I just don't have the room or access to Bamboo in sufficient quantities.
As to the tech stuff; thanks ... thanks a lot :D
Either the cable shagged (I have a spare), or the gearbox will be in bits ... I'm hoping the cable is the issue! When it stops raining, I'll find out.
