General American Panda 4x4

It's not the fan the alternator or the belt our place just before I left Italy. On the five minute video my cell phone was laying on the floor board in the front of the car in between both seat while it was recording. On the two minute video the phone was on the floorboard behind the driver seat. I have not noticed any relationship between the RPM and the noise it varies a different speeds and it happens on acceleration and deceleration. The whining noise comes and goes. There is no play in the wheels I put it on the lift and they are snug. I will attach a picture here and video on YouTube of the underside of the car while I had it on a lift and I had someone accelerating the engine if that helps more. Please let me know if there are you I'm checking out on the video is the location of the prop shaft support bearing please thank you all.

This panda was retired from government service and sat in a yard for over five years without moving. A set of jumper cables were attached and she fired right up like a brand-new car on a lot. I spotted the car and asked if I could check it out and then asked if they would start it. They had no idea I'll be there that day. It was obvious it had moved in a long time because of the vegetation growing on and around it. The gasoline was so stale murky and brown it want to even evaporate off my fingers. It was so amazing to me that a vehicle in such a horrible state could have so much life. If it is that bearing I need one I just don't know the part number and I figure if I'm at it I should replace a wheelbearings because it was left out in the rain and never moved. So I probably need those part numbers also.

Let us know what parts are you after

I was looking at these wheelbearings but I see them in many different prices is there really a difference in quality is there a set or manufacturer that I should stay away from or vice versa one that's great?

I don't know what level are your mechanical skills, but try to change your attitude more towards : try to repair first, if no luck replace. Those days aftermarket parts are not the same quality and they won't last that long as the original ones.
Leave the wheel bearing aside for now. You have correctly identified prop shaft support bearing but try to grease the old one first, them pattern ones from eBay does not last long- few members will agree with me. Ideally take the props shaft of the car, still can be used in 2wd. And soak the central support plate in used engine oil. Try not to take prop shaft to pieces as it might require balancing afterwards.

Trying to find the plastic molding piece missing in this picture. Anyone got any ideas or junkyard near them?

Hi John
Can source that part for you
I will let you know
Thanks for your message

For original part you should try to find
"Fiat linea accessori"
Or
"Fiat Ricambi"
They are normally stamped on the packaging or the part itself

John
I posted some parts for you in the "panda parts request" thread

Just seen the clip, does the inside edge of the rim catches on something be any chance? You can see fresh rub/ grind marks there.

I'm gonna crawl my happy self up under the car when I get off work today and check it out thank you I didn't catch it.

JimMagill - Jim have you got any US contacts who can help PandaCan?

Sorry guys. Unfortunately there is no Panda guys in the states. A couple of cars have come up for sale but thats about it. Shipping parts to the United States is horrifically expensive
