The other forum's are as useful as a chocolate tea pot.
I'm building a 'proper' motor for my Seicento and am having some parts made.
I need some dimensions on engine components tho.
Do any of you have a 1242cc 8v conrod lying about?
I need to know the c2c length and the small end diameter?

back in the day i would have said ask in the cento section as there was always knowledgeable people that tuned their engines but they all seem to have gone and there is only little annoying children in there (kinda why i don't have a cento atm). I used to use a website that had all this info on it but it seems to no longer exist :cry: the amount of times i thought to myself that i should download all the data before it disappears and never got round to it... so annoying! :bang::bang:

It's ok, I put a blinding 75 in Camel. That's not the issue, tho.
I'm building a fast road/race engine to put in my Sei and I'm having bespoke parts made (crank, conrods etc) but the company need to know the conrod dimensions so they can quote me. Trouble is I don't have one to measure.
 
custom made crank and rods... i kinda think settling for an 866 would be a waste, sounds like it should have a proper lairy aftermarket cam lol..

If you wanna sell them 866 though i bet if you posted them in one of the cento buy/sell groups on facebook the kids would tear your arm off for them haha.
 
yeah thats the one... its significant upgrade for the spi engines, pretty much where all the extra power of the 75 comes from over the 60 really. But its hardly a lively cam when it comes down to it, just has much more lift compared to the spi engines, about 10mm more iirc.
 
For "on road/racing" we (italian Panda drivers) strongly suggest to use the 1,2 16 valves engines, you can reach 90/100 horsepower without problems. :D :D

The 8 valves engines need to stay below 3500-4000 RPM to give their best performance, they have a lot of torque at low RPMs (both SPI & MPI engines).


On the contrary the 16 valves engine is better at medium/high RPMs.



You can give a look in this thread on italian forum, but it is NOT a tutorial, it is in italian language, there are some good photos
(in Italy few persons tried to do this engine swap, because it is not legal and hard to "hide" the different engine). ;)

oh don't get me wrong, I love the 8v engines!! 75 being king of the hill. (y)
The valvers are belters too, although they all (out the box at least) feel a bit dull compared to the mk1 punto 85 engine - just feels more immediate and responsive and it sings high up in the revs, I believe they had livlier cams that the mk2 and later ones which is prob why, that and cable throttle. Again I don't have issue really with fly-by-wire either but don't think the fiat ones (or cheap cars in general) feel very responsive, I'm sure newer high spec machines throttles feel no slower than cables and give you more control when mapping etc etc.

anyway, I'm babbling, I very much look forward to following this engine build (y) ;)
