General Steel Wheels Wanted

General Steel Wheels Wanted

Sorry Keith,
Sold two set of 4x4 ones, still have to rims left but they were the worse ones with holes rusted thru.
Reason for me asking was that the 2wd are much much easier to get.
Try Partsworld as they had NOS at £50 a piece iirc.

The 2wd do look good as well.

Would it really matter if I used 2wd ones?

Depends for what you want to them for, 2wd ones have less metal in the dish so in theory less strenght. For road tyres and mild laning they should be fine, for off-road with Trac's on you would have to ask our Italian friends.
There was discusion that the off set is bigger on the 2wd but i can't comment on that as never notice any difference.

I think you are correct and thinking the same as me. I have bought new tyres for off road and they can go on my original 4x4 wheels. If I can then get some 2wd wheels my road tyres can go on them. I will keep looking. I spend around 5/6 months in Spain during the winter and there are loads of scarp yards in the area, so I should get some eventually.
Keith

If you are going to be in Spain you could also look in milauncios. A commonly use website for second hand items. A quick search for ruedas seat mabella or ruedas fiat panda will usually give you a few results.
If I recall correctly I saw a set of four for 80 euros. It might be cheaper than the scrapyard.
I am looking for a set for our panda raid project myself.

2wd rims are the wrong offset, as are mk1 Punto rims. They will fit but risk of filler neck damage as proven on the Scottish Panda camp with Sara's Sisley.

They can be used but I would advise fitting spacers especially to the rear.

FYI Mk1 Panda rims (twin slots) are also the wrong offset for the Mk2 4x4.

I will keep my eye out for a set for you Keith but not much about at present.

Hey,

We are also looking for some steel wheels for our 1993 panda. And instead of creating a new thread, I thought it might be better of piggyback on yours.

Right now we are ruining some cinquecento sporting alloys, with 165/55 R13. The problem is that, at 165, and with that offset, the wheel sticks out from the wheel arch quite a bit. It we fit off-road tires we will either destroy the tire or the wheel arch.

Our original idea was to find some original panda wheels, but we've been to a couple of scrappies and they asked for £35 a piece

Before we go to oponeo, I though I would ask if anyone had used the 13 inch steel wheels from the new panda, and if they actually fit correctly?
Also if I go to oponeo, which offset would you recommend?

We would like to keep it as close to the original size as possible, as we already have 2 original wheels.

Thanks

I have a set of Mk3 13" steels, I've tried them on a Panda before, they are the wrong offset and an inch wider overall, the rim itself is also a fair lump heavier (made of thicker metal) which could lose you some power. They fit in the arch itself just fine but you'd have to drop a profile size (standard is 155/80/13).

EDIT: It's a shame scrappies are asking so much for the standard wheels, I would expect to pay that much for a wheel that has been refurbished.

Thanks Andy.
I'm not sure we'll want to drop a profile size, as we will be doing a fair bit of off road and the ground clearance would be reduced.

Has anyone tried the space saver wheels from the new panda's?
They look like they may do the trick and are more readily available.
The standard tyre for these is 135/70 r13, hopefully a 145/80 will not be to much of a push for the rims....

This bloke has a 4x4 and I'm not sure if he's selling as whole or breaking but he has a beat up Panda advertised on the Panda Classic Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10209352330620850&set=pcb.491496511046084&type=3

If he's breaking then you might be able to nab however many wheels he has left from it!

Thanks for posting, these cars have been up once before. I've messaged him several times and nothing ever gets finalised.

Just a reminder to everyone, be aware of bogus sellers - never pay through PayPal sending money via the "friends and family" method, you never get the money back if the seller turns out to be a fraud. Always pay for goods, even though it costs a bit extra. Get full written agreement for exact parts requested, keep a record via screenshots and printouts just in case.

I am not saying this seller I'd not genuine by any means, but I've been in this scenario before and I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

I've mentioned to him the parts I want, but he hasn't got back to me on if they're available or not or what price they are. He just said that he'd have a look, so not even sure if he's going to try to sell them to me yet  Thought he would seeing as how he's asking people to message him :p

Yep, agreed with you on the PayPal thing. It's never worth the risk going friends and family, you don't have the option of charge back there!

Update just in case anyone looks through this in the future:

1. The new panda's space saver spare wheels fit like a glove. They are actually a bit wider but the offset etc is correct, maybe just 1-2 mm off. I would venture to say that they are almost the same as the punto's. Watch out as some of them will include spacer welded on to the nut holes and will require longer wheel nuts. (pic below)

2. If you can't find a full set of those, the old punto's wheels will fit too. And these are still for sale brand new (oponeo and the like). Just look for something along these lines
Fiat Punto Hatchback I (1993-1999) 55 1.1
Wheel size: 4,50Bx13 Offset: 35.00 PCD: 4x98 Central bore: 58.1

I hope this is useful info for someone
