So I finally got round to stripping my engine to find what the fault was and turns out Pistons 3 and 4 decided to say hello to the head

hmm if you are good with electronics you could fit the more common 899cc engine from the cinquecentos. if you get an early one it will have no immobiliser to faf around with.

Yeah not so good with electronics and I was thinking a 1.2 punto engine with carbs

I think we're back to square 1.
903cc isn't FIRE engine, 1242cc won't meet with gearbox.

I know it won't be a cheap swap as I'll have to get custom driveshafts and other stuff

Shouldn't need custom driveshafts, you'd have to change/fabricate engine mounts and possibly the gearbox mount to fit a 1.2 engine and gearbox in, then use some Panda driveshafts from any FIRE engined Panda.

Oh I didn't know that and the engine mounts wouldn't be a big problem I can get them made

I think you need a FIRE gearbox from a Panda actually as don't think a 1.2 Punto box will mate to a Panda driveshaft, however a FIRE engined Panda gearbox will go straight on a 1.2

panda gearbox will fit both a 8 valve and 16 valve fire engine

just as a thought, and i know someone on here will have tried at some point, can you really not use cinq/sei box and driveshafts on a panda, they must be about the right length, or is there clearance issues? Guessing having just rebuilt my driveshafts and stuff that the shafts are further forward on a panda box?
