Following on From Mr Panda Faces and Palio's thread here is my contribution to Charlies history.

After noticing a slow puncture I removed the wheel to find it was past it's best and checked the others.

Shaping up to be 11-16 years old!

I've changed them now for the Colours "B" wheels, they are 14" and one side had it's balancing weights taken off by the caliper (whoops) but fit the arches nicely and don't look that different to the original wheel trims.

The spare lives in the boot as the bonnet won't close unfortunately.

As I've said elsewhere ideally I'd like a set of mk1 steelies for Charlie but as a stop gap measure they aren't bad in my eyes.

I had to give Charlie Fizzles battery as his had lost charge - I blame the digital clock - which I still can't set!

I'm thinking of letting Charlie go, he will be MOT'd once the season of the salt spreaders has passed.

When does Mr Panda Face get back from the continent? Perhaps it's best I give him first refusal?

BTW he started up after months of storage with a charge of a battery and me remembering the correct procedure (no choke, just a bit of pedal), the car not Kev.

For those who don't know, my local council is quite keen I reduce the numbers of cars kept at my property by 60%.

that sucks, how come they want you to reduce car numbers? Is it the ones on the street that is the issue or is there actually a limit to the number of cars you're allowed?!

Sure you'll find it a great new owner though. Had a nice laugh again on those original 1985 tyres (assuming that's what the 085 meant)...

Certainly an interesting special edition! Any idea how much you'll want for him yet?

What I paid, which was £2500. Has meatier alloys and tyres now Si so is quite grippy, I think those michelins were factory fitted!

Council had a complaint that I was a trader! They seem to think I have in excess of the number of cars for the ordinary enjoyment of them!

Fizzles been recycled, I'll sell the Uno (eventually) and send another one away to be mended which should keep them happy.

what can the council do?? if they are parked on you drive and not on the road then they can do nothing about it! it has nothing to do with them. if some on on your street has complained then its not your problem.
ive had "someone" on my street complain about project fallout (pretty sure its the same guy that complained about me having Talon as it looked a mess with blue doors and that fact it was an "old horrid looking car"! its kinda what made me get project fallout looking the way it is heh.), it's parked on the drive, its taxed and insured and used daily. i got a letter telling me that action may be taken and a fine issued if "visual disturbances" continue. so now i leave a sign in my cars windscreen when parked on my drive saying "problem with the way this car looks? thats your problem, its LEGAL!" with a nice smiley face :) i also wrote back to the council pretty much telling them to bring it on with pictures of the car and where it is parked letting them know that it is parked on private land causing no obstructions or inconvenience and its the DVLA's say if the car needs to be altered.

theres always someone out there trying to stop you enjoying the things you enjoy, do what i do take no notice and rub it in there face! (aww little Fiat Panda, Talon. spoiling the look of your shiny merc.. wait till i get my other Fiat panda, Fallout on the road and park it in the same spot. im sure you will think that it looks MUCH better haha)
nothing he could do but run to someone higher up to try and get the car removed.. lol, not gonna happen!

still though, the council can assume all they want when it comes to "being a trader" without proof they cant do anything and they cant tell you to get rid of things because other people don't like how they look if they cause no inconvenience and parked on your private land.

i'd be seeking legal advice if you are not up on that kind of thing. heh the law is the law and if i could i would take it all the way to the boundary of it... if my mum would allow it.. the UK laws has nothing on her laws.

None of single phase lifts wrth attention are availabe right now so I'm just wondering would this allow you to store more cars inside the garage.

John_s_lift.JPG

Panda is even shorter and rear end is lighter, placing the 'lift' 6 inches closer to front wheels would ideally lift the back wheel bit higher allowing next car to be patially parked under the first car. paltforms would rest on the front cross member triangle and side jacking point.
I'm not sure the latest cost of them scissormini mbile lifts but they were around £350 some time ago. Using 'skates' or manouver dollies makes it possible to store cars with no need for additional access space. I'm no sure exact dims of your storage but base on previous photos I think there is enough space to keep 5 panda size cars inside using various stacking options.

Council can do quite a bit - unfortunately, including making me remove vehicles from my drive.

On what basis?

You own your property don't you? There isn't a H&S concern. Unless there is a covenant on the deeds of your property I can't see what they can do.

They can try and accuse you of being a trader but if you're actually keeping the vehicles (the fact that you're not buying them and selling them on within a few months is sign of this) then I can't see how they can justify this.

What's the name/specifics of the ramps please?
Are they manual or need power supply to operate?
