Hello,

My car overheat in the traffic and after some effort looking into the problem, I concluded that it must be the radiator fan switch.
I found the OEM reference on the ePER site (5992746) and now I am trying to buy one. Do you know the original manufacturer ? Or what brand should I pick ?
On this site , there is a lot of choices: Bolk, Febi Facet, Valeo, FAE... The prices are not that different.
Do you have some advice ?

cheers,

I had Valeo fitted, but was is OE i don' know. If car sat in a traffic and rad fan was kicking in every 60s for let say less then 10s - it's all fine. As long as temp switch kicks in and off and switch connectors are not burnt out your safe. Inspect termostat, clean it out and get a bottle of hi quality coolant insted.

Hello,
Thank you, I'll go for Valeo then. The fan don't start at all when I am in traffic, even when the "hot engine" warning comes up. I also tried the fan by itself, and it works fine.

Hi,

I received the new sensor today, and it comes without gasket. There is just a metal ring that turns freely around the screew. Does it need a gasket ?
If so, should I use instant gasket ? (can you show me a link to be sure i buy the right product? or tell me: is this one OK?)
Or there is also GASKET PAPER MATERIAL - OIL AND WATER RESISTANT, and then, what thickness should I use ? 0.8 mm, 1 mm ?

Thanks again for you insight.

Ok guys. Some copper grease is all I need to buy then. I'll let you know how it goes onces I make the replacement.
Thanks.

Just to finish this thread. I replaced the radiator fan switch last week and now the fans comes to life when the car is not moving, ie stuck in the traffic. So every thing works fine now, thanks for your help. (And I did not use copper grease in the end).
