Technical Idling problem.

Hi again.

today I removed the fuel pump unit from the tank. Everything was connected correctly so no closer to a solution there.

the pump "looks" okay on the outside exept for one thing. The filter sock on the bottom of the pump has a tear in it, not very big, about 5/8th of an inch.

Could that have let some dirt through into the pump causing it to not work correctly under low pressure (idleing)?

On the pics you can see the pump and the tank, which seems to be in pretty good condition.

Okay a little update. The fuel pump works fine, it gives a nice steady jet of fuel.

Now I will put the thing together and force the car out on the road so the whole system can work for a bit and then see where I go from there.

Does anybody know where I can get a new strainer for the fuel pump since there is a hole in the current one?

Okay guys just a final update if anyone ever went around wondering "hm, I wonder how things went with the idle problem panda?" ;)

I got the car working and it now runs perfect! It turned out to be a bad fuel pump anyway. I bought a whole fuel pump assembly new from ebay and after that it works.

Thanks for the help along the way everyone!

Cheers,
Albert
