Hey,

The Panda's got two annoying click/clacks and I'm not sure whether they are linked, after all this is a 1980's Fiat, could be 'owt.

The first one is a rattle from the NOS, happens going over some resonating bumps or holes. I replaced the shocks and track rods and the noise is still there. Bottom ball joint is relatively new and the spring looked fine when I took it off.

The second is a noise which I can only here from the NOS but that could be just because I can't hear the one on the other side when I'm driving. This is a click noise, happens when I reverse and then brake, like when I'm reverse parking into my downward sloping drive. At the time the car stops reversing and comes to a stop under braking the noise happens, just one click, like the something is settling into position.

Anyone had anything similar?

It wasn't a Panda but I had a similar thing with a VW Golf, it would click when taking up driving and then stopping. It turned out to be the hub nut was not done up as tightly as it should have been and was allowing a tiny amount of movement in the splines of the drive shaft. Once tightened properly the noise stopped, so it may be worth checking the hub nuts, especially if they have been removed recently.

Has the car recently been MOT'd as that would pick up any loose or worn ball or suspension parts? Check the trim and other items around that area maybe for security.

The click on reverse sounds like my golf as a pervious person said but for me I think the pad is a looser fit so as it engages disc it clicks up or down slightly on the rear disc? Check front pad fit and security whilst checking hub nut torque??

Only my thoughts... Good luck

Had a look at the hub nut, could see it wasn't quite at the factory tightness position, only about 2mm to go which I did and made no difference to the rattle.

Car MOT'd last year and that didn't pick anything up, but it wasn't making THIS noise then.

I've got a new suspension arm on the way with new rubber bush and a bush for the front tie rod as well (rod from under the bumper to suspension arm, is this a tie rod). What I don't know is if these noises are related and I think the click on reverse could be the bush in the tie rod we shall see, either way im replacing all the rubber bits!

I did think about the brake pads, is there meant to be an anti rattle clip at the top and bottom of the pad? I've only got one at the top.

Bearing sounds plausible also but there is no tell tale whurrring noise coming from it, do they have other modes of failure?

Thanks for your replies.
