John, you need to be careful using stainless steel bolts on suspension components, not recommended as they are usually not the correct tensile strength and could snap.

Shop4Parts do list the rear shackles, but I think you will need to contact them by phone/email to order. There is no metal sleeve in the rear bushes so they don't seize but the rubber likes to bind so can be a pain to remove.

You guys know your pandas, get the feeling this has all been seen before lol. Thanks for the link dragon it will prove useful.
Dave.

yeah i did make sure of that. we have a nice "collection" of.. borrowed.. bolts from a factory my dad worked at. the place has shut down now.. when it did loads of stuff was getting dumped in huge skips. thankfully he rescued loads of stainless nuts and bolts, both HT and standard.. in all different sizes.
sadly im running out of the HT ones though. i should have enough for another 4x4 though hehe

yeah. it does not take much to strip down a panda. normally a breaker bar with a long sturdy tube, or a hammer and chisel for the stubborn bolts.
i try to not use power tools too much as i dont really like them.

Can't beat an impact gun for making light work of rusty threads, although I prefer doing things up by hand as you can never really tell just how tight (or loose!) an impact gun has done them.

you really dont want to know what i do as a last resort if i cant shear it off..

meh ill tell you.. but its a secret ok.

methods i have had to use in the past with great success are:

big carbon rod clipped into the stick welder and just melt the thing out. that works really well..

also getting it as hot as you can, then giving it a good blast with some CO2 to cool it fast while putting "undo" pressure on it often causes it to shear off if the bolt is just too big to shear.

.. if i get really p155ed off with it (and if i can get them in) the 4 ft Stiltons with scaffold pole come out.
not very often that i have to resort to that one though. they are for huge bolts.

Lol dragon man that's proper destructive. I go easy as poss and often walk away overnight and come back to it. It's replacing hard to find parts after. But sometimes enough is enough.

I'm off up near you tommo dragon man. Going to gee jays and anchor army surplus if you know off them.

i know anchor well. its where i get most of my military stuff from for Project Fallout ;)
if i had Talon Taxed i would have gone too theres a few bits i need. (some of the old red traffic light units in one of the bins outside)
i would not mind that awesome helmet with mic and headphones too but its about £50 :(
and of course.. more ammo crates the better!

I like anchor to, find it a bit pricy at times but there some interesting stuff. Years ago they had vehicles n furniture an all sorts.. Be good to see fallout one day to, perhaps it needs a Jerry can on outside like Willys jeeps had ?
Need a few parts for mine to, snapped bolts and shackles for leaf springs to etc.

I have a period army jerry can I plan to attach to my Sisley's boot

Righto, the cost of a inner and outer sill from eBay Italy was to rich for me also the sellers are not keen on posting to UK so...........
Made me own up, I wanted extra strength to beef up a rusty shell and the right price. So I had a measure up and decided to use box section, it's cheap ultra strong and easily available. I bought 2 lengths 1500mm long of 100x100mm box section with a 3mm wall !!!

Then I cut out a L shaped section, I measured 25mm on one face and 50mm on the other and used ultra thin 2mm cutting disks on my angle grinder to create the shape in the piccy. This forms prob 75% of the sill quickly and easily.

This is closer up and shows the section of quarter panel welded back in after welding repairs behind it. It's all etch primed up now and then seam sealed behind with brushable seam sealer. I've yet to make up the outer cover sill as I need to drill a hole for the captive nut for the seat belt anchor.

Next jobs to drop the whole back axle out along with petrol tank and see what that reveals.
