Well finally I have the black beastie home!

Journey home was diverted from Luton to Worester to pick up an unexpected ebay bargain - more on that tomorrow, and apart from a full stop of traffic on the M60 it went pretty smoothly.

I reckon the throttle body needs replacing as it is still revving itself randomly but not so often as to cause real problems or a danger to other road users. It did it 3 times today and over a period of 7 hours I don't think it will be a nuisance in normal use.

As a motor I'm very very pleased, drives and rides just as well as Fizzle (even has the edge as the trailing arms aren't knocking!), brakes are superb, real stopping power!.

A few things not working - rear heated screen, rear washer and the heater - was a bit chilly on the way home.

I'll have a good look over it tomorrow and take some pictures too. :)

great news....
we need update with lots of Pics!!!

Had no heat in the car so after I collected the alloys 2 hours later I was pretty cold and bought a screen clearing heater which saved my legs becoming frozen

I really enjoyed the trip back apart from the cold and got quite attached to the wood steering wheel

I'm pretty sure this one has been on auction watch before but was in london then.

Ah well I may as well show you the wheels I acquired

And that's how it stands today.

Oh I ordered a stepper motor off ebay to see if that will sort the random revving.

:ROFLMAO:Ahhhh:slayer:

Sorry John but i cant't stop laugh.

Proper Handy Man job, B&Q rules.

My god. That bodge! May need a heater matrix if they've bypassed it like that.

I know it is kind of epic!

I've already sourced a tap, hopefully they were just too lazy to fix it properly, though I've been offered the whole matrix too!

Anyone know how to get that wooden steering wheel off?

well if you ask me, it looks like someone heater cocked up when installing a battery.

"yeah, we chucked a new battery on it"

i dont have any spares sadly john :(

Yeah, it's a bit of a mess there isn't it?

I think it will be fixable- I'm determined to do as much work on this one myself as possible.

The battery wasn't even clamped down properly so I sorted that out and took it out for a spin today. 88k on the clock and no 3rd gear syncromesh problems!!
Drives really well though I'd forgotten how squealie those narrow tyres can be:D

The injection light stays on but I suspect that's due to the mechanics liberal use of carb cleaner in the injector gubbins.

I wish sky panda stopped as well as this car does - even on skinny tyres.

im pretty sure we could diagnose why the injector light is on. if ever you come down this way with it. do the usual earth checks.. then check for bad vacuum lines..

theres only like 8 things that the ECU picks up on that could cause the light to stay lit.

when you first crack the engine, what does the injector light do? do it go out for a few secs, then come back on?

Yep, once I get the bits to fix the heater I'll head down to yours for certain!

Light is on, goes off then comes back on.

I'm in your postcode when I pick up the White one on Wednesday will you be about?
