Quite south.
So Char' will start up, run, up to temperature and idles smoothly no issues on normal day to day usage.
My revs always drop a tad with more electrical load so at night with the headlights on the idle is about 100rpm lower ish. Still sits smoothly though, the problem comes when driving around with electrical load, I'll be driving along at a steady speed approaching a junction, brake toward the junction, dip the clutch just as I get there, revs fall but instead of dropping to idle the rpm falls to about 600rpm where she seriously splutters and I can feel this through the clutch pedal a lot. After about 3-5seconds of spluttering she picks up and idles again but in those seconds of slowing down to a halt she sounds awful. I dislike it so much that I will drop down through the gears as I slow down until I absolutely have to drop the clutch.
Anyone know what this could be, battery seems strong, my alternator belt is starting to slip, only really noticeable in the rain and when you plant your foot at low revs.

Tighten the alternator belt as a matter of course and check the idle control valve would be my suggestions

Is the belt worn then if its slipping and won't tighten any further?
Yes, the belt needs replacing which I will get done soon.

There will be an idle screw on the carb somewhere, I think I have the same problem with Po.
Wouldn't this raise the normal idle speed though? It already idles around 1100rpm. Once the engine has stopped spluttering it comes back up to its usual idle.

So an update, I drove around the other evening trying to replicate the problem with the headlights on, the rear demister, the interior fan blowing but she refused to show the problem again always settling to a smooth idle.
However the other night I was driving a friend home and it was much colder outside, engine temp was 75-80 so warmed up and off the choke but with just the headlights on every time I dipped the clutch she spluttered around at idle. So seems more a cold thing than a electrical thing. Having more electrical load just emphasises it
