A couple of months ago I had to take the painful decision to scrap three of my donor Panda's. They had been picked clean of just about everything that was useful and were just taking up valuable space. The trouble with donor cars is that they look very untidy so you end up keeping them in the workshop rather than outside to appease the landlord.

The three that have gone are Dora the Sisley, the blue colour, and the green Fizz that was traded in for Pickle. Yes they could all have been saved but at what cost? They were all very rusty but had good mechanicals, the only sensible thing to do was use their parts to save others. :(

On their way to Panda heaven..........

As you can see the blue Colour had one last part to give up, the twin sunny roof panel :).

Unfortunately keeping space is never easy, and a couple of weeks ago another Panda muscled it's way in.

A donor from the outset, just look at the pics! It's not gonna take long to take the good bits from this one...........

What a shame we have to lose a Mk1 4x4 though. It had been stood in a field for the last 10 years, and during that time it looks like a small fire had been set next to the front o/s. So often the case on a Mk1 though, the seam where the boot floor meets the chassis is really good!

Vern, I don't think anyone here will hold it against you scrapping Panda's, you manage to save so many others with them. If you were buying in perfectly decent rare examples and stripping them for parts to sell on ebay then maybe but you're not.

I do love that blue of the COLOUR thought, one of the best colours for a panda imo. Such a strange coloured Mk1 btw, looks in pretty bad shape, I'm supprised if you could salvage any parts from it!

Hey you know how the new dep ed of Practical Classics wants a 4x4 and doesn't mind a bit of work? Tell you what I might send him some photos if he replies to my last email (don't think he'll be easily put off by our madness, so I'm expecting a reply!). ;)

It was originally white.

The mileage showing is 57,000 so the running gear could be ok, not much chance of driving it to find out sadly. I have moved on a couple of plastic trim bits already, there could be a few more interior parts saveable.

Did you save the block out of that mk1? If so, id be interested in buying it

Apart from the aforementioned trim items everything else is untouched. It would probably need stripping to check it out properly but by all means give me a call if you're interested in the block. I have a use for the head myself so that could work well. (y)

Hi Vernon,

You have just done what I've been putting off for the last few years. I will follow your lead and finally get rid of my 850 Special

Hi Vernon VmanC - great that you saved the parts. Would be very interested in interior trim from the Mk1 4x4, if any salvageable. Especially a front seat/cover and the steering wheel...

Hi David,

Steering wheel should be fine but I think the seats have had it, the interior looks to have been open to the elements for quite some time.

You mean you won't be able to restore that 1? ;)

Hi Vernon,

She makes your green/white mk1 look mint. I'm hoping to save the running gear and wheels all being well but the shell is well and truly gone sadly.
