As has been requested, could you all suggest of usefull tools and spare parts to have in your Panda's when you're out and about.

Bare in mind we are looking for useful tools which serve a purpose so dont just say '200 piece socket/spanner set' rather say 16mm spanner (good for slacking the alternator) etc.... We want this 'kit' to be small enough to carry around with anything else we carry not lugging around a full garage worth of items... unlike Andy Monty (y)

8,10,13mm sockets and a screwdriver (with various bits) - you can take most of the Fiat range apart with those!

I'd also put in a set of plugs & spark plug tool (for the little space they take up) foot pump, a 2litre bottle of Tesco value water (about 18p & you might need it even if the Panda doesn't boil!), a top up 1L of oil, and a good wheel brace (Wilko do a fantastic extending one which will shift anything and makes a useful cosh.....).

It might be worth considering a spare cambelt as the AA/RAC can get you going again if it snaps unexpectedly - I don't, but scout mentioned it & it sound like a good idea.

Ok so in my car at the moment I have (as well as the fiat wheel brace, screwdriver and jack)

Scissor jack
Jump leads
Instant gasket
Assortment of cable ties
Clutch cable
Torch
Chemical metal
Exhaust hanger
8,10 and 13mm spanners
Camshaft oil seal
Crankshaft oil seal
Copper grease
Jubilee clips
Foot pump
Tyre sealant

Think that's all :ROFLMAO:

i see this kind of thing as an art...

well i know its a bit much but i have

spare parts:
HT leads
complete spare distributor (with vac advance, ignition module, rota arm, distributor cap)
cam belt
alternator belt
a length of fuel line (for if some wares through)
throttle cable and clutch cable
2x spare bulbs for every kind of light in the car
a spool of wire

all of this is hidden behind the engine bay sound proofing along with a few tools that do not need to be used unless i need to replace any parts.

Tools:

a ratchet , short and long reach, 5mm, 6mm, 7mm, 8mm, 10mm, 12mm, 13mm, 15mm, 17mm, and 19mm sockets. the smaller ones are for hose clamps.
one of those screw drivers with loads of bits, that can be adapted to use with the ratchet.
a set of spanners, 8mm, 10mm, 12mm, 13mm, 15mm, 16mm, 17mm, 19mm
pliers with wire cutters built in
jump leads
small wire brush
knife,
a knocking stick (hammer)
chisel

and thats about it. most of this stuff is also hidden behind the sound proofing.

Consumables:
some very thick zip ties, and some smaller ones
tough tape
penetrative fluid
copper grease
2x 2L bottles of pure water (from an RO filter)
a pack of long life army ration food (hey you never know!)
water cleaning tablets

no doubt i have forgotten something.

oh in the winter i carry one of those awesome multi tool / use shovels.

i spend a lot of time at the ex-mod place >_<

you'd think the car would be full but its insane how much stuff you can fit behind that sound proofing! makes for a real good stash place :D

My panda has
Spark plugs & leads
Cam belt
Distributer cap & rotor arm
Points

I will put a coil in there too at some stage.

All those things are easily replaced by RAC/AA anything major will have to be recovered anyway.
This kit was put together for my daughter and does not include tools as she is unlikely to try and fix it herself.

I don't carry any tools or spares in either of mine. You all obivously have little faith in your Panda's!

I forgot to mention the tow rope for pulling Audi's & other idiots out of muddy or snowy ditches. You won't need that Freddy, as yours isn't allowed out in the mud or snow.....

I don't carry those things (apart from the tow rope & wheel brace) either, but the question was what would you carry if creating a kit. ;)

My Land Rover has the tow rope ;) Even better than a Panda when it comes to dragging out stranded vehicles of the German variety(y)

I sense a challenge getting put forth! One I would be glad to take up if it was actually working at all :ROFLMAO:

I have heard about the legendary capability of the panda 4x4, and seen videos on youtube, but never experienced for myself sadly!!

Hmm, losing track now but I think spares I have:
complete distributor
plugs
HT leads
Coil
Carb
Fuel pump
Fuel hose
Cambelt
(working on the theory of fuel, spark & timing covers most fixable faults)
plus
Bulbs (assorted)
Nuts & bolts (mix of common Panda sizes)
Alternator belt
Clutch cable
Throttle cable
Fuses

Then assorted cable ties, electrical & gaffa tape, and WD40 (or similar)

Toolkit (as seen at Mitcar;))
1/4 and 3/8 ratchet, sockets from I think 6 to 19mm plus deep sockets 8-19mm and a plug socket and 1/4 spinner handle & 3 3/8 extension bars, long 3/8 breaker bar.
8 pc Screwdriver set
electrical test screwdriver
stubby spanners 8 - 19mm (I think)
ratchet spanners 10-19mm (I think)
Pliers ('normal,' long nose, adjustable 'pump' pliers)
adjustable wrench
grips
magnetic pick up tool
spark checker (dead handy!)

plus multi tool, torch & batteries in the door pocket.
...and RAC card;)

No hammer! need to find a nice one next time I'm at a Thoresby Hall show, great tool stands there.

Of course I'll never in a million years use most of it but hey, I'd be knackered if I was trying to fit that lot back in the garage. That's very full:eek:

edit: Oh yes, forgot, water, oil, hand wipes (no, actually they're on the floor next to me here for some reason. supposed to be in the car) spray wax polish, bumper shine, glass polish & a few microfiber cloths.

edit ii: disposable gloves. spare emergency phone & usb charge cable.
