yep, those 'slightly corroded rear brake pipes, worn shock absorber bushes and 005&6 N/S & O/S coils springs corroded, all self-mended... :)

007 though was tackled this year: 'Unable to test rear seat belts' needed a bit of help - ie. fold seat down and thread lower belt points through...
thought I'd better show willing... but now can't release catch on O/S to fold backrest down... where's my van gone lol
What's best fix for this? Can that mounting be unscrewed with backrest up
...there's always something

I have the exact same problem (except mine is N/S!) But I am afraid I have no idea how to fix it, but if I do I will let you know. Likewise if you work it out please share the knowledge!

Oh and congrats on the MoT! (y)

Well I managed to get the post out... unfortunately the catch mechanism twanged apart as I prised off the inner cover  so I can't really say why it failed as nothing looks untoward.

I think it would help in retrospect... (as usual ) to undo the four allen bolts securing the seat base first. Reason being, it's very difficult to twist the seat back to create some clearance to move the backrest, and undoing the base might give a bit more clearance (though it might not...)
As it is, I got mine off but scored the paintork and dinted the steel in the process (it's a workhorse... :p)

So 19mm open ender - undo securing nut and with a bit of wiggling and long nose pliers you can just about manage to screw the securing post out of it's adjustable sliding captive nut. This is where you need to twist the seat back to give enough clearance to move the seatback forward to access the two securing screws that hold the catch in place. Might be a good idea to slide a thin piece of plywood between the end of the pillar bolt and the paintwork, or as I say earlier undo the base first.

Now I got it off it's looking very much like a better fix is to slide 1/4 flat screwdriver over the pillar and push upwards which acts against the cam part of the catch.

Yeah, just tried this on the other side (which works okay anyway though...) - take handle off standard Panda screwdriver - then feed pozi end BEHIND seat belt (could take belt off though..?) and feed flat end into recess ABOVE bolt - this acts against the cam that releases the catch and I did this a few times. Previously doing it in situ I was trying to lever the locking catch out of the way... but working on top of the bolt looks like better option and may be worth a try first..?

Here's what I think causes the problem - the bolts work loose allowing too much gap between the cam mechanism and the lever base. Slamming the seat back into position then allows the plastic cover (inner) to jump out of it's position making the lever inactive against the cam.
Remedy: keep bolts tight..? and don't slam it back too hard maybe..?

Your last post is like War and Peace.....
Haven't you any windows (Panda or otherwise) to clean on a Friday or Cider to make.

Better be good -- especially as it hasn't got a Panda on the front...! Just downloaded to my iPad for some bedtime reading...! (y)

My mum grew up in Chapeltown, Sheffield; and I'm a Lancashire lad -- so I'm expecting great things from it! I'm seriously impressed with anyone who finishes a book (I'm halfway through three novels...): so congratulations, anyhoo! :worship:

I shall, of course, leave a review, when done! :D

Three!!! it was bad enough trying to get through the one...
I was stood in that shop and had one of those 'eee, you could write a book' moments...
see if you can pick up on the clues as to the inscription's whereabouts - nobody has so far...
(y) Hope you enjoy following Danny and his mates' antics... :)

By the look of it with the shameless promotion of your tome on the forum, you are going to be £1.54 better off by the end of the week.
That's nearly a new Panda.
That is of course if I can only work out how to turn the wifes Kindle on.
Dave

54p Dave - I only get 26p per copy... Jeff Bazos get's his bit of course (however, he does give new writers a chance, so fair play to the guy)
- might get a new bush for the starter motor out of it at this rate lol
Go Dave, make it 12 copies, find that 'on' button... I could nip my missus over to show you how to switch it on (anything for a sale!)
:chin: I wonder if Alan Parker is up for ideas on a new film... low budget: 3 guys in a shop, falling out... tch , maybe that's a 'spoiler' though...

Download the Kindle app to your iPhone; sign into Amazon, and you've got an Uncle named Robert! :D

It still won't be something papery I can read in the smallest room though will it? ;)

I like proper books - I doubt I'd ever get round to reading anything on the iPhone, as it's not a comfortable size for me to read & I'm staring a computers/phones all day as it is! I might do it, but I also might start a "bring back proper stuff" campaign, aka "Luddites Reunited"........

I don't posses a Kindle myself or an iphone - mine's a crap Windows7 phone (they did try to warn me apparently ...) I just downloaded the free 'Kindle Reader' onto my laptop to see what the layout would look like as it's a bit tricky getting line spacing and such as you want it especially with the (er, intended) song quotes.
here's a link to the different apps available:
Amazon.co.uk: Read Kindle ebooks everywhere with our free reading apps

With sufficient interest I could sign up for Amazon's 'Create Space' which gives writer's (new or established) the opportunity to publish in hard copy. I suppose Kindle books are viewed similar to how paperbacks were viewed when they first came out... (when did they 1st come out..?) - lets face it we all like hard cover Panda manuals to the smaller soft cover versions (...and I gave up on ePer long ago!)
There's even a 'talking book' option, though you'd want the volume down on this one...

There is an argument about the first paperback. If you're looking for a decent stab at a quiz answer though, the first Penguin paperbacks in 1935 are usually a fair attempt. Why do I know that? Useless, hopeless things stick, while I forget where I've put my car keys - good job I know (hopefully) where the spare is, as I've got to move cars around now!!! :bang:

I will get into the 20th century soon I promise - this iPhone is great I have to admit, but I nearly short-circuited going to the 21st century from a steam driven Victorian version! ;)
