Looking for any1 who knows where to get hold of a cvt oil filter for the gearbox in my selecta as the.oils looking dirty and horrible.
Filter I believe is discontinued. And was about £80+.
Oil you can get from Unipart motor factors. About £40 for 5L
Iv.got oil halfords had it on.offer about 2 month ago 5 ltr 29.99. Any alternatives to filter, can I.do what dragonman says and wash in paraffin
Are you sure you've got the right fluid for a cvt box? Not just normal ATF stuff?
You can get the filter ultrasonically cleaned but that means the car out of action for a few days or you can clean it out with petrol/paraffin etc. others on here have done it to good effect, just make sure it's completely dry of any cleaner you use before you put it back in or you'll contaminate the new fluid
Also do I need to swap the gasket or should I say is it advisable to swap.the gasket. Is there any danger signs I.should watch out for when the sumps of.
Its definately cvt fluid, ill take a pic when I get home. Ultrasonically cleaned?? Who, and where does this how much does it cost.
I did a google search for ultrasonic cleaning about a year and a half ago and it came up with a few places in London near me. Didn't get around to doing it yet but I'd say just google places near to you nice deal on the cvt fluid
hi,
the cleaning is a bath ( bowl) filled with a fluid , that vibrates at high frequencies =hence "ultrasonics"
the thing here would be to get a fluid that isn't going to attack the innards of the filter
even immersing it in strained ( filtered) oil from your 'box would be good.. then keep "back-flushing" with small amounts of the clean new oil.
any idea on the dimensions of the filter..??
as the basic machines aren't expensive.

they'll do a top job on the carb jets too..!!

From memory I'd say the filter would just fit the 1.3L tank but couldn't guarantee it.
