Just wondering if anyone is considering Metan/LPG ?
Here in Rome I saw few on LPG and some panda van on Metan gas
How much would be to do it?

i'd love to do it myself..

i think you can get universal kits, not sure where from though, i am just waiting for a car to come into the scrap yard with a complete kit on it so i can rip it off and use it on other things.

some insurance companies are fussy about gas conversions if home done, some dont bother.

i guess ebay would be a place to check first..

In Italy you can convert to LPG a V6 car for about €600
some panda I saw had the LPG tank under the boot so retaining the space

I've paid 1200 PLN{ 235GBP} for a new italian LPG instalation with 45l tank.Complete instalation, tank ,assembly plus adjusting the whole setup on lambda gas analyzer .It was Landi Renzo or Tomasetto I think , here in Poland 3 years ago, though the price hasn't changed since then.I have carb in my car, for spi it would be maby 20-30 GBP more expensive. Panda 4x4 with punto 1242 8v engine consumes 9-10 liters in urban cycle, 7-9 extraurban.{ It is more fuel efficent with 1.2 engine than with original 1.0, more torque , better torque curve}.

I don't know the UK regulations about LPG, Is it allowed to drive to another country , have LPG installed there and make it road legal in UK?

Yes, it is possible. I'd the convertion to my primera done in Poland (italian type filler point still fitted), drove the car back to UK - paid £90 for "inspection" at autorisated fitter place in Thirsk, UK LPG certificate been issued at the same time and the car reg added to the register as bi-fuel.
( road tax £10 discount each year).

I've done 40k+ miles with the lpg now , the whole car paid back it self already - twice. 41.2% cheaper compared with petrol costs with 2.0cc.

The biggest disadvantage still is the Lpg filling station network - isn't great in UK, but you can use to it after a while.

Not done it on a Panda, but done it on my 2004 1.4 16v Stilo back in 2009. Never looked back, cost £1200 for the sequential certified setup.

I'd get about 30-32MPG on the gas, on petrol it only used to do me 34-39mpg.

Personally I'd never do a Panda due to loosing boot space and not covering the mileage, but if doing more than 10-15k miles a year and keeping for 3+ years then its worth it imo. I used to save 1/3 on fueling costs.

I might do a Panda eventually if the Stilo gets scrapped, I'll transplant the 1.4 16v engine and fueling into one

There are solutions to put the Gas tank under the boot
I know it would make sense if you drive your panda quite a lot and I believe that the road would be a little cheaper as a residential parking permit here in London but not 100% sure
Any idea?

Yes, you're right!
London congestion charge does not apply to bi-fuel (lpg converted) cars, so I'm guessing the residential parking permit will be lower as well.

It did, but I'm sure that's all changed? I know the 500 and anything which emitted less than 99kg (or what every the unit is for free RFL) CO2 per KM used to be exempt, but it now only applies to vehicles which emit under 49 iirc and no longer includes LPG vehicles.

I know on post March 2001 registered vehicles Bi-Gas fuel reduces RFL by £10 a year (used to be £20 when I first had the Stilo converted).
