Ha Dave, good to see there's an update ! Actually facebook brought me back here to check progress. Again, if you willing to share info about wiring up the lump or an ecu map maybe even, you'd make my day.

Good build !

No problem. The engine and gearbox are all back together and back in the car and the wiring and plumbing will get sorted out in the next week.

The engine loom is a bespoke one made for the MoTec M4. At the moment i don't have a base map for it to fire the car but I know a man that works with these ECUs so hopefully not too far off.

What gearbox are you using Dave ?

As i am running the setup based on the 1050CC Turbo engine i have the A112 Abarth 5 speed coupled to it. But because i am runnig it in a 127 Brazil it is easyer for me to run the 128 type gearbox which fits right in the frame and mounts.

If you have the A112 Abarth type gearbox you could quite easily change gear setup because this 5 speed is used in many types. The 128 box is stronger though, bigger diameter driveshafts and tripods as well. Worth looking into if only for future developement.

Thanks. All good info.

As far as I know it is a standard Y10 Turbo gearbox. I think it may have a Y10 Fire gearbox 5th gear for higher top speed. I will ask the question of the guy that originally had the car built.

It also has an AP Racing clutch which is a bit of a beast. It is going to be like an on/ off switch

Morning All

Things are moving forwards with the Y10 race car. The major delay was getting a base map for the MoTec M4 ECU and getting it to connect to a PC. So it has been on a wee holiday to Australia (the ECU not the car) for MoTec to have a look at it. Long story short, we now have a working ECU with a base map.

We then had to sort out fuelling as the original tank and pump were full of old fuel and gunk so not ideal for track work. So I bought a foam filled alloy tank which fits nicely in the Omega shape of the rear axle. Mock up below

Not sure this video will work but it shows it running

Couple of leaks from the cooling side when it was run up to temperature but they should be sorted with some new core plugs

That is amazeballs.. you happy with the work? they always look mint in pics lol

Thanks. It is a motorsport paint job so it is as it came out of the gun. The guys that did the work do a lot of rally and race cars and their work is spot on and great value.

As most of the panels were replaced with ally sheet the panel gaps aren't what you would expect from a car with factory metal but the result is a car that only weighs about 500kg.

Still a reasonable about of work to do to get it all back together and driving but want to get it out on track this summer.

Post your race dates and locations please may be able to give you a cheer on

Hello

It's been a wee while!

The Y10 race car is nearly finished. Had a major rethink on the build to comply with current motor sport regulation. Biggest change is the cage

Also a complete new wiring loom, extinguisher system, front brakes (Fiat 500), fuel system, dash etc etc.

The fabrication and build will be finished in the next week or so then need to get it on the rolling road to map it and see what power she makes. Planning some shake down track time at the end of February.

Will post some more photos once everything is complete.
