Are you worried about the overall wheels and tyre size throwing the speedo' calibration way off?

If you're using the t-jet box it's set up for 15's so you might take off like a rocket but run out of gears before you get to three digits.

Well played... :slayer: sounds like an interesting setup. How come you went with 106 injectors?
The only reason I went with the 106 injectors is that I knew they would flow enough and I had a set lying about. Also I couldn't use the 1.4 injectors out the original manifold as they don't fit the 1.2 16v manifold I fitted :(

Hi
Not so worried about speedo being out as i am still using the panda box for just now however long that may last ?
Trying to get it on the road , not so worried about ratios till i get her going. As i am resisting a full rebuild i just want some fun this summer maybe something to work on over winter ?

Five speed cable shift box?

There's a spare in the classifieds and I have a Cinquecento Sporting one and drive shafts that should fit if yours goes "pop".

The Cinquecento turbo guys swear by them and a few have been bolted to the 1.4 block so torque shouldn't be an issue either.

cinq sporting box is decent, although i recommend upgrading clutch and flywheel. The 1.4 16v na clutch and flywheel will bolt straight on and gives you much larger friction area and seems plenty capable to take 150-160bhp no sweat. Stock clutch on my turbo sei was lasting ok for about 40k miles but it did slip a touch when hammering the car, particularly once you'd got it all hot and bothered.

I would say i far from swear by it though, its ratios are all wrong for the amount of power and torque. If you were to fit a much longer final drive then maybe it would be better suited, 1st is kinda pointless once you make 120bhp+, its just a wheelspin gear.

I know who I will be messaging if it goes pop ☺
It's the original fiat panda clx cable change box not sure if thats the same as the cinquecento boxes or not?

Ah very informative cheers
I already have the 1.4 flywheel and 200mm clutch fitted as opposed to the original 180mm panda clutch.
Glad to hear the gearboxes seem to handle it ok if my panda one is the same as the cinq ones.

I know the punto gearboxes fit but means fabricating new gearbox mounts and using punto gear shifter and cables. Just thought I will try the clx box and if it goes bang then i will change I will be showing some sympathy to it no crazy burnouts . Do the cinquecento boxes bolt in or do you need to fab new mount too?

if you got cable shifter pretty sure cinq box will bolt straight up.... they are both c514 boxes so panda mounts should bolt straight up -not sure whether you can use the dry shaft diff and driveshafts (i think all pandas have the wet shaft style although i am still pretty new to pandas so maybe i am wrong??). but the cinq/sei box is the same as mk1 punto with a fire engine and even mk2 puntos, fire engined classic bravo/a too - different ratio and final drives in most - seem to remember a thread somewhere with all the different ratios from all the fire engined cars but can't find it now Grrrr.

the new abarth cars use a 5 speed c510 box which i have never had one of in front of me but apparently (in a cento at least) you can't use but i don't know why exactly. I'm unsure what the non-abarth tjets use, be it c510 or c514 based but most of them are 6 speed rather than 5 i believe - the modern cars don't really interest me so much so not that up on all the specs of stuff

Cheers for taking the time to relay all that info much appreciated☺

All Panda's use wet shaft with potentially the exclusion of the Selecta, but who knows what witchcraft goes on in there ;)

so does anyone know if cento driveshafts would be the right length for a panda - would be highly fortunateness if they were and you could just swap box and shafts over cause wet shafts design is one of the silliest things fiat ever did if you ask me. If it does work then i'm guessing gear rodded cars like mine could just swap over the diff and shafts and keep the rod selector setup..

I have no idea but live just up the road from Wisbech Engineering who build hotrods so shortening or getting a pair made wouldn't be much of a faff. ;)

P.S Dry shafts mean no more leaking boxes (unless they have an extra hole).

The cinq/sei sporting gearboxes are not the same as the panda ones and will not bolt in without fabricating new gearbox mounts and using matching gear shifter and cables. It can and has been done and I've a 500 6 speed in my race car with stilo cables and shifter. The cinq/sei boxes have the 'advantage' of having cable operated clutches as opposed to hydraulic on most of the others.

The good news is that the cinq/sei sporting driveshafts can be used if fitted with panda outer cv joints/stub axles. Here is a pic of my gearbox rear mount jig:eek:

Oh and one of my 4 pots with panda mk3 early diesel vented discs that squeeze under 13 inch wheels(y)

Thanks guys for all the support and info over the course of this build thread it's all been much apreciatted!
But the Panda is no more due to a fire where the vehicle was stored and worked on which was also part of my work,I sadly haven't got near the car since the fire as it's to dangerous . There were a number of other irreplaceable cars but nothing of the car or wheels are salvageable. That's 2 fiat pandas written off while being worked on not sure if I have the heart to start a 3rd one ??
