Hi all,

I have been reading the forums for the last few days and this looks like a great community of Panda enthusiasts.

This is my Panda, I bought it just last weekend as a cheap daily drive about while the other car is in storage.

MKII 1989 1000s Twin sunroof

Was going to put a pic in here but need 5 posts first.. so will add one later!

My first car years ago was a Fiat Uno 60s so ever since I have had a soft spot for the little fiats.

:)

Welcome, my nephew has been in NZ for the last three years. I gather older cars are pretty plentiful. And then of course there is the best breakers yard in the world at Horopito

Oh cool, where does he live? Yes New Zealand's fleet is mostly dated. I hadn't heard of Horopito till now, not sure they will have anything for the Panda as it is probably way to young.

Welcome to the Forum... -- and the friendliest, most helpful bunch of nutters, sorry, Panda experts, on the planet...! (y)

Looking forward to seeing some pictures... -- we thrive on them; they are the bamboo of our existence...! ;)

PS: If this post hasn't put you off, you will fit in perfectly here....

Haha, yeah I love pictures too. Especially before and after shots. I really like seeing what people can do with their own hands. Very inspiring.

I'm not put off, I read through a fair few threads here already and felt at home.

You can google earth 'Horopito' it is massive.
Nephew on North Island. He tells me that as he's been out there 3 years that now when he meets someone new he tries to find out which of his other friends they know.

I think we have more people in London that you have in all of NZ.. We will happily send them over if it's a bit quiet for you.

I did google it, looks awesome! Yeah, whenever I am overseas and I meet a kiwi or someone who knows one we can usually link how many people we know in common.

Think I am almost at 5 posts! Pic soon.

Oh yeah and we don't need more people. Seems to be for every New Zealander that leaves we get 3 new asians. Not being racist but I think I might need to learn a new language.

Car is great. I thought you had a drought.?

Yeah we did, best longest Summer we have had in ages... So can't complain about the rain. Sucks for the farmers though tough year.

First incident with the panda last night,

Rain is pouring on my way home from a mates place and I am just thinking to my self how fast the little single front wiper is going.

Next minute it flys off the car and I had to pull over in the rain, hop out and grab it off the road before it gets mangled.

Lucky it was late and there was only one car about. Pretty funny now, but was a bit of a surprise.

I'll fit it back on this weekend or see if I can find a replacement.

Welcome.....good to see you got a panda for the same reason I did..old memories of a car I had in the 80's.

So, are there many panda's in NZ? And if there are why don't the Japanese import them??...any pics I've seen in Japan they are all left hand drive..

I guess you would not know the answer...it just bugs me..

Hi, welcome to the Forum. (y)

I know someone who returned to England eight weeks ago after living in NZ for a few years, he's into Pandas and was looking to buy one before deciding to return here, he told me he only saw two the whole time he was out there so quite rare I guess.

Yours looks to be a nice genuine example, not seen that colour before, really like it.

I'm looking forward to before and afters once you've had the polish out :p

 Welcome by the way

Not many Panda's at all. Two that I know of including mine... So not looking forward to the availability of parts. A fair few more uno's and newer Fiats though.

I have no Idea where Japan gets their Panda's from, clearly not our market!

Speaking of parts my front wiper seems stuffed. Wanting to replace the whole thing. Can I use an Uno's wiper unit?

Yeah, I have only seen two also! :S
I hope it is a nice genuine example from what I can see it is so far. It also has a webber carb, is that standard for a panda?

 Welcome by the way

Getting the polish out this weekend. Along with the steel brush :S...

Oh and here is my only pic so far, it has been raining heaps as winter is on it's way. (great time to get a car with a sunroof I know!)

Hello & welcome.

I'm trying to work out if that's a colour we didn't get over here, or a slightly faded one we did get? What's the paint code on it? Either way I like the colour (y)

Don't forget to add yourself to the list of members cars at the top - you may be the first from NZ.

I'll see if I can find the pain color code today, still got to try get the front wiper arm off. Stubborn little bastard. I took the back off no sweat just the front seems to be glued to the spline... Any tips appreciated.

Oh yeah, where is the paint code located? On a plate somewhere in the engine bay?
