The above picture shows Simon and Steve of ACC this afternoon at a local classic car show put on for Fathers day. They, as I'm sure you all know, are sponsoring Pinky by refurbing his wheels for us.

In fact if you look at the righthand side of thier display you can see two of Pinky's wheels being used to demonstrate the before and after effect of thier work. Better still, here's a close up........

Are they the ones who did such a cracking (unfortunate choice of word maybe!) job on the 45CL wheels? If so I'll get you to ask them for prices on other wheels in the not too distant - do you think they would be able to do the Palio alloys - mine have been on for 34 years and may be due a refurb!! I have others needing work as & when funds allow too (y)

I wonder if they'd like to 'sponsor' Pippin and Betty...?

Looks like I may be getting some prices, too....

As it happens they're not the same company that did the 45's wheels but they are just as good. They have done a few sets for me now including some engine components and they're always first class.

They have your omega axle to clean up at the moment, they also did the Palio alloys for your Panda looking Panda project which have turned out like new. I did do the black bits myself to save a little money though :).

Remember now!

The fact that there is an alloy wheel refurbing company 100 yards away from the workshop yet I prefer to drive for half an hour to take my wheels to these Guys speaks volumes I'd say.

I wonder if they'd like to 'sponsor' Pippin and Betty...?

Betty's wheels would come up just like Pinky's so well worth considering Steve (y), or I still have those 14" 500 steelies available :D

Ah ok - wasn't sure if they were the same or not.

I'll definitely put some work their way as they are helping Pinky. On the potential list are Palio alloys (to take away 34 years of wear), 127 steelies, poss Coupe alloys as the finish has faded (clearly not a big priority), some old alloys like those on the Super, oh and some Alfa alloys which I accidentally acquired...... Hmm might need those done in stages especially as I've just remembered a Punto!!

I'll be sure to warn, I mean, let them know when I pick up Pinky's wheels. (y)

What is shown though is one of the four new centre caps I also have for him...

I so like those caps... -- but can't decide whether or not to keep them (well, replace with new, non-Hammerited ones) on Pippin, or even put them on Betty, as well/instead. My gut says to just put the proper black centres on Pippin, keeping him original; and spruce up Betty.... Ahhhh

If you're wanting to keep Pippin original then it should be the little black centre caps :)

I know... -- and we've had a similar debate over on Betty's thread (starting here...). I just have a soft spot for those caps that VmanC has shown, above; and, with Betty getting a new interior, and a few other very subtle (and not more than a smidgen from original spec...) mods, etc., think that they'd look rather yummy....

Pippin, methinks, will probably revert to type; and will therefore have those "little black centre caps". They, somehow, suit the character of a 750L more, I think....

Is anyone able to bring Pinky down to the Castle Combe show this weekend?

Short notice I know, but it would be a great opportunity to take him round the track and get some promotional shots. Gavin still has one ticket left so entry would be free. :D

It really needs its brakes sorting out though, Frazer seems to think its ok but IMO its a bit dangerous.

Having also driven Pinky, I'm afraid that I don't think the brakes are that much worse than on Pippin... -- and they're new; and sailed through the MOT...! (I also had to do an emergency stop, in Pippin, on the way back from Castle Combe, at the weekend... -- and you'd be amazed just how effective the brakes are, when needed....) :p

Seriously, you get used to them pretty quick: so much so that I have to remind myself that the Punto doesn't need half as much (pedal) travel or grunt to stop....

seriously? it hardly even slows at all with all the might i could muster with one foot, its not much slower to not brake at all and let it coast to a stop. Now i know older cars don't have over servo'd brakes, i've had a few classic cars in my time and beetles for example (that weigh about 20 million times more than a panda, which have drums all round) brake like a ferrari compared to pinky when it comes to braking - even one i had that only had one working drum stopped much better. I just cannot believe that if pandas slowed down that leisurely that any of them would have survived this long.

also having bled fizz's brakes i cannot see any reason at all that a panda wouldn't stop just as well as a cinq does
