We've just bought a Panda for our daughter and in the process of getting her ready for the road. New oil, filters, plugs, general deep clean of engine bay, inside and exterior.

As PH told us at Cranleigh, the trailing arms are a common rust issue and ours has suffered. Anyone know where we can buy a pair of replacements with new bushes?

Also need a rear offside light lens.

The rear bumper mounting clips snapped off after minor bump some time ago, does anyone know what glue to use for re-attaching the slotted screw mount clips at the back? I was thinking of using plumbers polypipe solvent glue. Failing that, anyone have a rear bumper?

Thanks for the warm welcome and offer of parts. Can you PM me your asking price for the parts you have?

Going to try a bumper repair today as only the clips have sheared off the offside end leaving it hanging down half an inch. Not sure if my glue repair will work, if not, will need a complete bumper.

I only mentioned the bushes as it's easy to change them when it's all apart as a precaution, but they seem OK. Miles wouldn't have got them as the car only has 21,000 on the clock but the years might judging by the perished rear original tyres (replacing Friday). If your advice is to re-use old ones then that will save some money.

Thanks!

The bushes are not easy to replace without damaging them, it's best to change the arms complete. If you are only concerned about the rust it may be worth soaking them in a solution such as Bilt Hamber deox C. They will come out clean, and if there is still enough metal for them to be strong enough to use you can just wire brush, paint, and go.

Yep..that's what I would do...just wire brush and hammerite.

^^thats what i did mine came out looking real good in yellow >_<

if you want to protect the bushes, cover them in silicone based grease..
dont use oil based grease though that will just eat them away to nothing!

silicone = good for rubber seals/bushes
oil = really bad for rubber seals/bushes

Here she is getting some TLC ...

I wish I had not told you about it and bought it myself....:(...that is a great looking panda and you will get your money back on that when she is finished with it...(y)

Or you may even get to like it and keep it for yourself...:D

Are you sure you haven't been on this Forum before Colin, you're finding your way round very well. Usually takes a month to work out how to put good sized pics on. ;)

Thanks everyone, almost there with the work. Handy I even have matching axle stands!

The car is a keeper, it's a gift for our daughter, back from her holidays on Saturday. Will post a pic when we hand her the keys, I think she'll like the surprise.

MORE WANTED ITEMS - anyone have a bonnet safety catch? It seems to be missing from the bonnet latch and is noted as advisory on the MOT at the moment. Secondly a workshop manual (other than Haynes), perhaps a dealer workshop manual? Do they exist?
