I don't think it's quite that straight forward about whether it needs a Cat test. Can anyone make sense of:

Can you work out if a 1993 Panda without a Cat, and a different engine, needs a Cat test? I'm reading that if it fails the Cat test and isn't on the appendix list (which it won't be if it's not a Panda engine ;) ) then it can take the non-cat test. It's in Gov't speak though, so I'll probably ask my friendly MOT man what he thinks!!

This isn't purely academic as I want to know if the project Panda with Punto engine needs a Cat.............

Edit: just looked in the MOT testers manual and the flow chart agrees with the above. So if it fails and there's no exact match in their charts, it gets a non-cat test. Anyone know different??

'LWM I would try running some CAT cleaner through before you go for a new CAT, tricky though I suppose with it not being on the road.'

No idea such a thing existed... I left it with 'em to sort out... that'll teach me
