Hi all, when i first started the onyx rebuild, i bought a new battery, not even a year old yet..

but if i leave the battery connected but ignition off, it seems to drain, was gonna go in it work yesterday but thursday evening i took it for a shake down after exhaust alteration and had to use the jumper pack to start, was ok, put it on charge over night, friday morning in garage to check and still said less than 50% charged....buggered i think but i an sure the car is draining it......how can i check, where to check if open circuit...going to get another battery but dont want same resuilt.....

getting a quick relase for battery in case....

thanks all

kevin

have you got an amp meter/multi meter?
if so connect the battery as normal, undo the + lead sit it on top of the battery then touch the red amp meters probe to the battery terminal (+) and the other one on the lead that you just took off. it should give you a readout of the current draw. if its only a few miliamps (anything under say 300mA) it should not be so bad and i'd look to the battery at being faulty.

just dont let the probe touch ground as you'll melt the amp meter leads.. been there done that..

before i had a clock and fitted the alarm into my panda its current draw was nothing
no ecu for the win >_<

Agree. Radios and boot lights staying on are the biggest culprits I've found. Easy to check both. Fold a back seat down and see if the light is on. With the radio a multi meter will tell you if it is drawing too much current when off. Ecu faults have also caused battery drain faults and damaged or faulty relays which leave a circuit live to drain the battery.
