Been to a local scrappy this morning to fetch a front passenger door seal for the 2B MJP, so what I hear you ask?

Yard had a Red 1000 Fire Panda Colour Edition up for sale! A complete car with twin canvas roofs on a M plate for £395. Asked for more details when I paid for me door seal but chap couldn't tell me much. Wondered round it and it looks fairly straight and original. There are odd dints, rust patches and paint fade (is there a red that doesn't?)... certainly seems too good not to save. :)

Having recently read Aston Martin's 'rarer than a 599 GTO' thread, I smiled a lot and thought what a jolly enthusiastic lot you classic Panda people were! If I buy it, my missus will kill me! Even though I have never owned a real 'classic' Panda, only its Spanish cousin, a Black '90 G plate Seat Marbella 850 Special straight off the showroom floor, of which I
have really fond memories. (y)

Kev, I have cut back (severely!), but this is for a particular purpose: my Dad and I came across a trials car event which we went to watch, and we decided we'd like to enter a car at the next one. http://www.cvmc.org.uk/hcc_wales.htm

I'd love to use a Panda, but didn't want to use our existing car (just in case). So my plan was to get a running Panda, use it for the event (which is slow, and non-impact), then do it up afterwards as necessary. Vernon - goodgirl's 4x4 looks like a great project, but the next event's on the 22nd and I can't work like Dragon Man! Even for the scrapyard Colour it's taking a risk in case the MOT throws up too much.

If it can't be a Panda I'll have a look for a Seicento or Cinquecento, or anything else interesting!

Well, here it is. now on the drive.... arrived today on a trailer. Looks OK from a quick look, though bit concerned about rust on sills/jacking mounts. Hopefully nothing too serious and can be caught in time. Clutch a bit heavy (might be a problem for my Dad), but engine lovely and quiet, interior great. MOT booked for a week tomorrow.... Thanks again for spotting it.

Phew! Managed to get it through the MOT yesterday. Few niggly jobs and needed some welding and an inner CV boot (as ever!). Had great fun today - car did very well (not so sure about us drivers, good laugh though and a good cheap day out).

What was the event Dave? Looks like something I'd like to do. :)

Hi Vernon, it was a trials event - objective is to get through a series of posts on a route which snakes up a (usually steep and slippery) hillside. No 4wd allowed. Not as easy as it looks (one section we couldn't even get off the start line) but we got better as the day went on, it cost £10 each to enter, and was excellent fun! http://www.cvmc.org.uk/hcc_wales.htm

Thats Fantastic that you have saved it Mr. aquamarine!

it was a car i spotted 3 weeks ago. and took some pictures of it. (Linky)
nice to know it didnt need much for the MOT.. any advisorys?

heh when i saw it, i wanted it.. but my heart is with another panda haha

get some oil in them doors.. they are not too bad oil should stop them from getting any worse.

Hi John, thanks again for spotting it - was perfect for the event. I did try to send you an e-mail but it may have gone astray. It needed a few things for the MOT so it was a busy few days, but all worth it and it's a good little Panda now (and came up nice and shiny too!). Cheers again. (y) One day you'll succumb too and start gathering them, maybe once insurance gets a bit cheaper.... it's dangerous.....

Really glad somebody rescued it... I hope aquamarine enjoys it (y)

I did wonder what became of it when I noticed it had gone early last week (having bust a front door speaker grill cover on the MJP whilst upgrading)

Must admit Dragon Mans thread was way better, I was just cautious with detail as I feared I might be guilty of an infraction against forum rules... oh well I know better now. :)
