Bit of news regarding Luke P's old Panda 'Sparky', and my 750L.
As you regulars may remember, I found a new owner for Sparky when Luke decided to throw in the towel after a harsh mot a couple of months ago. All work has now been done so he's ready to go for it again, but Lucy wanted me to carry out a number of upgrades along the lines of what I'd already done to my 750L and Charmania. These would be done over the next few months while she worked on passing her driving test.
Now the mods I'd started on the 750L were aimed at a young person and were pretty much what Lucy was after (x10 ). So, seeing an opportunity to pass it on now and still be able to finish the project, I made her an offer she couldn't refuse .
As a result Lucy is even more excited to become the new owner of my 750L and I am now the proud owner of Sparky. Not a straight swap of course, but Lucy has done very well out of the deal, and I'm pleased to be keeping it under my wing (yet another one ) and still in a position to finish what I had started.
So, with all this in mind the 750L went in for mot this morning. It failed at first on a front side light bulb and a missing centre exhaust rubber. I went home, put these things right and returned 20 minutes later to get my nice green pass certificate .
At last I've found a Panda friendly garage, they were complimentary about it's condition, and even my new dash design! so I think I shall use them in future. Lucy really has got a cracker, I say that with no bias, and I'm only thinking of the basic car. The Fiat factory must have been having a really good day when they built this one, the underside is amazingly clean and rust free, still. The bonnet front edge has a few little rust blisters starting to show through now, but it doesn't look as if it's going to see a welder for years yet, and this is an August 86 car, so one of the earliest MK2's.
I feel very fortunate to have owned it for the last two and a half years, and when it's all finished Lucy says I can borrow it back for next years shows.
Next for Sparky will be it's mot test, then I'll run it around for a while till inspiration strikes and give the blue CLX a rest.
