Re: panda 4x 4 suspension / gsxr 1100

Cheers for that. I have a write of gsxr 1100 sitting in the shed and I have been thinking of transplanting the engine into a mini but everyone seems to be doing that. Now thinking mid engined rear drive panda:D, anyone out there seen anything similar?

I've seen a mid engine conversion on ebay, Ford escort 1.6 engine, but an unfinished project. I believe there are a few other mid engined Pandas, but not many, and probably not with bike engines.

It has been talked about though and would make a great car, all that screaming power whilst keeping the weight minimal. I say do it, just make sure you cover the work with a thread on here :)(y).

4x4 axle isn't a good route as when you put it into 4wd both back wheels go the same speed, also its only designed for 55bhp and slow speed.

Decided would rather go for the panda than the mini. This is exactly the kind of information I was hoping for, better to no about these things from the start. Shouldn't be to big a problem to fit another rear axle, maybe from an escort or similar

Yep, I think that's the way to go. Look forward to following the build on this one (y).

I would say using a 2WD might be a better idea? 4x4s are getting rare and wouldn't fitting an engine in the back mean you will have to rebuild the rear of the chassis anyway? If thats the case it doesn't matter what the rear suspension and drive was originally as you can fit whatever you want.

Buy a 126

smaller and lighter, and a bike engine will sit snug in the back, and they're rear wheel drive with no diff on the back axle as drive came straight from the box.

126 bike conversions have been done and they are fine for quarter mile fun, but don't expect to do anything else. They handle appallingly and would take a lot to make any good. They have independent suspension at the rear that would make mounting a live axle difficult, which probably is the way to go. 150HP in the back of a 126 with a single transverse leaf as your front suspension? I'd give you 24hrs before you crashed it..
