Are there any bigger brake kits that fit in the small Panda? Would bigger brakes from Fiat Puntos also fit? If anyone as ever thought about this subject or as ever seen such modification, please reply. I do not hava a fiat panda, but i'll get a Lancia Y10 by the end of the month (it from a familiar of mine), anyway, Lancia Y10 has the sama brakes that the panda has, it also has the same engine. So the cars are much look alike. I just thought i'd ask here since the fiat comunity is so much bigger. cheers. (also sorry for my bad english)

There's nowt wrong with your English, lad.

Sorry I can't help but I would be interested as anything that improves a Panda's braking must be a good thing!

Also found out several manufactures that have sport discs that fit:

3G: grooved discs only.

Black Diamond: grooved, drilled & grooved, just drilled. (this discs are all in black)

Brembo: grooved(Brembo Max), drilled(Brembo Sports).

Red Dot: drilled & slotted, 2 kinds of grooved discs (different patterns).

From what i've been told this discs are not bad, and together with some good pads (green stuff ones are excellent!) they should make any panda to brake MUCH better. All this discs are 240 mm diameter!! I think that they will only fit Fiat PANDA 1.1 & 1.1 4WD from 93 to 95. Other Pandas should have to upgrade to 1.1 calipers, if these are different, or just the calliper suport, but i don't know the difference between the two so...

Just out of interest, does the Y10 have servo?

Because if it does, you've already got an advantage over most Panda drivers ;)

Greetings from sunny Belgium...

Yes, the Y10 has a servo, as does the 4x4. (and the Selecta)

The Y10 had a variety of engines; smallest was 999 FIRE.
There is a site in the UK which gives a bit of detail,
search for nyssa and Y10.
Try also "cars from italy".

Cheers for now, must get back to the beer and chocolate.

P.S. that Liptons Iced Tea advert on the telly is wrong;
it's flatter than that, and there are more cows in the fields :p

Thanks John ;)

And enjoy your stay in Belgium [8D] Incidentally, have you driven there in the CLX?

No, we wouldn't be able to get all the junk the three of us need in it; Sues Felicia Estate is only just big enough.

Part of the problem is that I drove a couple of Peugeot 505 estates* for the last 15 years, and we still haven't got used to the lack of available space.

Weather still holding up, but only just.

I was just asking if you'd driven in it to Belgium because I'm taking mine on holiday soon, which I haven't done before. Off to Norway in 15 days :)

Enjoy the rest of your holiday [8D]

We saw a couple on the M25 -
an M plate red one we struggled to get past
and a white K plate 'Fizz' which was going about the same.

Our first week was in France in the wilds behind Boulogne - quite a lot of Pandas of all ages around there.

I don't think I've seen one since we got here; I think there must be too much money spilling out of Brussels - it's all Mercs and other exotic things around here [:0]

Driving on the wrong side is a bit odd: it's OK in a lot of traffic, the difficulty is first thing in the morning, when on auto-pilot, or later in the day when you're tired and there's no other traffic about - the round-abouts do look tempting the 'wrong' way....

Up to date our most exiting 'moments' have been a Merc pulled straight out of a fully marked junction in the services on the M25 - I don't quite know how we stopped/drove partially around it, without the cars behind shunting us or hitting it.
The other was a French sunday driver who pulled out of a side road and drove straight towards us - she was on the left handside of the road... I gave her a dose of main beam, and braked as much as we could - she drove onto the centre section.
We missed.
Wonderful.

Just take care [8D]

i find roadworks the worst, especially if one lane is closed and you have to swap lanes to go past - thus putting you back on the UK side of the road - if there are no cars waiting at the other end - i have a tendancy to forget to go back to the other lane [xx(]

Sounds like I've got it all to look forward to [xx(]

It's the first roundabout as I get off the ferry that concerns me. Wonder if anyone would mind if I went round one the wrong way in Birmingham, just to practise? :p

Would anybody notice??

BTW I'll look out some sites with info about driving "in country of your choice".
There are two or three which between them detail funny local rules, and requirements - like warning triangle, spare bulbs, first-aid kit, masking headlamps for dip to left etc etc some of which are mandatory in some parts of the world.

Just give me a bit of time to get sorted now we're back home again:
I'm on nights next week, so should have the opportunity [xx(]

John,

You are a sir and a gentleman. I've looked at the sites you recommended and they're very helpful, thanks :)

There is a long thread on "preloved" regarding brakes..

http://www.preloved.co.uk/forums/message.cfm?thread=4084&message=14913

is probably the most interesting part.

I haven't done that to mine: it looks fairly difficult.

The messages either side of this one might be worth a look though.
