hi, after doing about 16oo miles in my 91 panda 750 in about 3 weeks, my clutch cable has rather predictably snapped. i was sort of expecting it to happen so it wasn't a shock, however trying to source a new one has been a complete nightmare. i've tried fiat dealerships and fiat garages but without much luck, i also tried euro car parts who say they stock it, however on delivery it was completley wrong and after much debate decided that they could not get one. i was just wondering if anybody here had any ideas where i could get one from (preferably mail order) as this is driving me nuts.

any ideas at all would be appreciated

cheers

You should be able to get one ok on eBay? Good luck.

Clutch cable - ebay 2wd and 4x4

Does this look correct to you? They are rediculously cheap if so! Its the only cable I have seen available to be honest, but I had heard there were other types. Here is a picture from my engine bay:

PS

When fitting the cable onto the pedal end, make sure the washer is put on after the cable which helps to keep the cable away from the bulkhead. I beleive this is where they rub and eventually snap. (its where the 4 or 5 I had snap on me during the last 3 months my panda was on the road!).

Hope this helps!

Si

If the one in the picture is not right then it will be the one with the 90 degree metal sleeve which looks like this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Clutch-Cable-...s_SM?hash=item48377bdd78&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14. Not sure about 750s but my '92 999 has the latter and the changeover between the cables is by no means neat. It's a simple matter of a visual check.

Edit: This says 903 cc on it so I'd check the Quinton Hazell part no but it LOOKS the same as the cable on my '92 Panda.

it should be the later type on a 91 model they changed in 1988 officialy. on juppy I changed the complete pedal box so i could fit the later type cable as they last much longer and feel better to operate. not changed the box on my current 4x4 yet but i do have one waiting in the garage for now i just cary a spare.

Hi, it definately is the one with the metal sleeve, however i dont seem to be able to remove the sleeve part without removing the master cylinder which seems bizzare to me. Is this the same for everyone else or is my car perculiar?
There is literally no way to get to the bolt that attaches to the bulkhead as the master cylinder is right on top. Any ideas?

thanks for all the help and advice

cheers
