My 1st ever post in here!

Don't hurt me

Can someone confirm if the Mk1 Pandas had the bag style washer bottle and - if so - whether they were hand pumped or electric?

My 126 has a bag which is hand pumped and - although idiot proof - it's a PITA to operate whilst driving.

Cheers dudes/dudettes

Re: My 1st ever post in here!

Hi,
very early pandas (up to 1982 and not all of them) had bags, but they didn't have electric pumps. Later models had plastic tanks and manual or electric pumps.
If you want, I can search for bag with electric pump on Polish Ebay, but if I were you, I'd just buy an electric pump from fome other car, cit the plastic pipe and just put it in ;-)

Re: My 1st ever post in here!

As per m a d's post, mk1 Unos up to around 1987/8 had the "colostomy" bag for the washer fluid ( ) These incorporated twin electric pumps for the front and rear washers. The last of the mk1's and all mk2's had a solid plastic container.

So did a number of British cars! My 1974 Ford Cortina had a foot operated washer pump so I fitted the electric pump system from a later model Cortina

It's fine when the cars sitting still 'cos you can press it a few times to build up pressure but - unless you have a passenger - it's a real PITA to use while driving

...and my 1974 Ford Escort - wash/wipe switch; I thought it was really posh!

I had a 126 some years ago (BIS) but I think I had the electric washers on that.

As for the hand-pumps...

Standard fitting on the 2CV; plunger is on RHS of dash, worked by thumb - force of jet depends on how hard you push! Pipe leads to single point on bonnet with two angled jets Works well enough for the small windscreen on the Citroen (pic not my car) The pump on the van is elsewhere; the reservoir looks like an old honey-pot with a screw lid!
