Have an '86 Panda 1000CL. It won't tick over at all except with the choke about 3/4 of the way out. If i put the choke in fully i can make it run by keeping the accelerator pedal slightly pressed but it is very 'spluttery'.

I have adjusted the throttle screw which sets the 'off' position of the throttle to fully out but it is not enough to keep the car running. Now i have no more adjustment left in that screw.

There is also a lot of slack in the accelerator cable, don't know if this is related.

My technical know how is fairly limited but any ideas at all would be great.

Cheers..

Check the idle cut out solenoid. It’s the thing on the carb with the wire on it. With 12v on it, it should pull the needle valve in. It not designed to stop all the fuel, just at idle so will give the problems you describe.

Thanks for your help guys, but i think i am going to have to bite the bullet and visit my mechanic, this all seems a bit too techy for me!!!

Cheers
