Hi,
I've got Panda Selecta 1.1 SPI and some problem :(
For last week I had problem to start engine. I mean usually it starts first time.
Now I have to start twice...I wait till 'engine check' light switchs off then start engine and when engine runs my 'engine check light' back on again for 4secs then switchs off and it's OK.
But yesterday I've done about 100miles, droped my friends, started again to go home and there was something wrong with engine... It was like no power or like strangle (stifle) when I try to drive slow with same speed, but when I push pedal more power back...today was OK...(but still not perfert engine start)
Any suggestion?
I think that it could be something wrong with fuel pressure, injection unit or coils...but how to check it:(

Yes it is injection warning/fault lamp (on dashbord)...(see picture)
It wasn't raining that time, but last days it was raining almost all the time.
Engine was hot after 1h drive.
Today car drives OK, but I started engine few times and everytime this light
was on for 4 secs about 2 secs after engine started...then switched off...
I started worry that my baby's got some flu...

I can take a few sec to go out if the engine is started instantly, this is normal.

It wasn't raining, but was it damp

If so, it's likly to be the Lambda Sensor. It's happening my my Selecta, but normally only when wet/damp.

Ideally just needs a new Lambda. I've still got to get around to doing mine, just got used to it. When I done the coolant change on the Selecta and the Lambda got soaked, the light stayed on for about 20 min after starting, but when it properly dried out it went out.

It's something to do with the seal where the wires go into the sensor I think. I also suffer from a slow reaction time from the lambda when traveling at speed, which will also cause the light to come on. It's mainly because of the age of the sensor (it is a user serviceable part) and again should be changed.

Hope that helps. Jon.

I started worry because it wasn't like that before...
I think it wasn't damp, but I have to check lambda connection, I tried to fit
air/petrol gauge so I touched it, maybe I didn't put rubber cover properly.
Lambda sensor is almost new (I changed it 3 months ago)so should be good...
Thank you for help...I'll be watching her :)

BTW
I've just read on Punto MK1 forum, that sombody had similar problem.
He said that it was MAP sensor...I think I've got one spare, but from Punto 75 but maybe I can try...if it helps, can buy right one:)

If it's new then most of what I said is irrelivent then, but if you've had to recently disconnect it, and reconnet it, than that's probably what it is (y)

In your first post you mention problems with the power (normally due to this) I have the same and couldn't think of how to describe it, but if I say it hesitates, would you say thats what happens to yours?

It was something like off fuel in carbs cars...I tried to drive but car didn't want, I pushed pedal more but car slowed down (same like in carb cars without petrol) but when I pressed more (deeper) car drove with full power.
But it happened just one, one it's only problem when I start engine...(usually twice)
Anyway I'll check Lambda sensor again and will inform you if I find anything else...

The crank sensor could be failing, check the wriring and connection.

Cheers

Checked wires and connectors...disconnected ECU and let it set it up...
now I thinking to check fuel pump and "pressure sensor" in injector unit, but
now Panda is parked on company carpark and I use van so next job on weekend...

I know it's no help, but IVOR has suffered with the sudden power loss/red light syndrome since I've had him, but it's never been a problem on start up - usually only when pulling out in busy traffic or overtaking at 80mph! :D I'm bought a new lamda sensor but it's been on the "to do" list for nearly a year!

Oddly enough, the problem goes away for a day or two if the battery/ECU has been disconnected - I'm interested to learn what you find the cause to be!

Cheers

I'll be searching till I find what is it...or I sell it:)

I'll put my old Lambda back for while to check if new one (changed short time ago) is OK or gone now:(...

Hi everyone...
I was searching searching searching and checking and then I think I found it!!

Sometimes my engine temp.gauge started running like a mad so I had idea that it could be something wrong with engine earth (also sometimes starter wasn't working as fast as should but battery was OK). So I started to check it. And I found that big black wire from AKU which shoud be sticked to engine where manual's Pandas have starter motor is hanging and just touching engine body, looks like screw cracked.
So I fix it (temporary) and engine starts OK, there is no "engine check" light :)
I hope that it was reason...
