Hi all. Were putting the repaired (root free) doors from the donor 750L onto the 1000CL before it goes off the the scrappy in a few weeks time. But the interior door cards are different and so will need swapping.

How does one go about getting around the window winder? Does the window winder just pull off to allow the card to come off?

Many thanks. Jon and John.(y)

If you can push back the plastic ring at the base of the window winder slightly there is a wire clip around the base of the handle itself. Turn the winder until you can see the end of the clip and you can get a key or screwdriver or similar down between the winder and the plastic ring and push it off. As for getting it back on the new door, seriously awkward, need some sort of wafer thin pliers or something. Good luck.

I have to do this job in the next week myself. The handle is off but needs to go back on (started to replace the window winder and ran out of time).

From looking at it resting the clip onto the handle when putting it on and pushing the washer back and the card bach then using a tweezer nose plier should do the trick. Then I can still see a lot of swearing to get it done , why the hell couldn't I just leave it alone!?

Putting the handle back on is easy. The clip 'clips' onto the handle and then you push the whole unit back on with a click:)
Wha... You have no idea how long it took me to get that stupid clip back on my Lancia Y10 years ago:bang:. Never dared take a door card off since. Might just go and do it now just for a laugh.

Removing/replacing the window winder has never been a problem. Suggest use of a six inch steel rule to push the clip off after exposing it as described above. Steel rule is much less likely to cause unintentional damage than using a screwdriver or other blunt object.
Rgds.

I'm a bit of an expert with the window winders now! I use a blunt pair of scissors to get the clip off, one blade on each side. Then to get the clip back on its just a case of putting the handle on then pushing the clip with the end of the scissors. 10 seconds to get off and the same to put back on :)

Now to work on Door locks!
I have replaced 4 new sets of door locks on Pandas and got it down to a very quick time:D

Many thanks for your post! Went to do this this morning and was getting nowhere fast so thought I would check on forum. I used the scissor method for getting the clip off and then to put the window winder back on I put clip in first and one little punch and it was back on. :slayer: So simple when you know how.........

the winder clip can be removed with a rag/cloth, just wrap it over the handle, and pull on one side, the clip snags on it and pops off

like this vid -

only you don't usually need the screwdriver on old cars with hardboard door cards, its also easier if the clip "spikes" are facing towards the handle, so put it back on that way!

Hi,

Some pic from my Panda library....(Attached) :)

Those look like dentist tools. Mine is rich enough not to have to work on cars as well as teeth. :D Love the cloth method, guess the clip stays in the cloth then, unlike mine that fell in grass. Had to get a magnet in the end to find it!
